Emma Swan finally found her fairytale ([info]lostfairytale) wrote in [info]wariscoming,

Who: Graham and Emma
What: Well, sometimes your boyfriend is fine and sometimes he's cursed...
When: As the smoke starts kicking in!
Where: Casa de Storybrooke
Warnings: it's Emma, if she's not swearing, I'm doing it wrong

For someone with a literal dragon all but breathing down her neck, Emma was surprisingly calm. She had no intentions of getting involved with the witch personally. Her time with Maleficent would come and she would handle it as she did everything. With reckless abandon. But for the moment, she was a mommy. She had her boy to think about, and he wasn't in any immediate danger as he had been back in Storybrooke. And the baby. Her tiny newborn daughter, just developing her little personality. Those were what she fought for now and, as Lois had said, she had to stay alive for them. She didn't blame Peter for what had happened. She'd learned with Molly Hooper that one didn't always control their actions when evil was involved. But she knew to keep her distance from everything, just in case.

And really, she was having a hard enough time dealing with things. She'd read those filters to magic people. Why was she even able to read them? It wasn't like she could help at all. She would watch Loki enchant the weapons maybe. Learn from him. But she couldn't help, not with her own powers. What was the point in having them if she couldn't use them?

So no, she'd watch from the sidelines. She'd pulled out their mole with years of hacking experience and her watchful eye. That would have to be enough.

All of this ran through her head as she put the baby in her cradle. She had moved Aislinn in her room the night before and Henry had slept there, too. Keeping both of her children by her side was the only way she could have fallen asleep. Even if it was a fitful sleep, full of nightmares and jerking awake to watch the rise and fall of her daughter's chest or listening for Henry's little snores. The baby, however, had no idea anything was wrong and slept soundly and Emma couldn't help a little smile as she put the little girl down for her nap. They'd make it through this. Ruby would find Emily safe and Grace would be returned to Jefferson and they'd all be fine.

They had to be.

Graham's plan for dealing with this entire Maleficent situation was really to just stay out of it. He checked in with Ruby as much as he could, kept something of an eye on Belle and kept most of his focus on Emma and the kids. He was worried about Grace, little adorable Grace, but Jefferson was resourceful. Exceptionally so, and apparently had several others offering help so Graham believed his best focus was on protecting the people closest to him.

Of course protecting also involved such mundane things as taking out the trash. Hauling out the heavy bag, trying not to spill everything out all over the yard. He was only out for a few second really, didn't even notice the smoke as it brushed past the back of his neck....

One of the ones who had offered help to Jefferson was Regina. Regina who had her magic back, Regina who was capable of such unimaginable cruelty, who had killed him, who hated Emma, who would stop at nothing to hurt her and get Henry back. There was a noise in the shadows beside the house, causing Graham to spin hurriedly, trying to peer into the hidden corners with the eyes of the Huntsman. There, was that her? Had all her supposed offers of 'help' all been to lead to this moment, to get close to the people who meant everything to him?

It was her. Her smirk was as clear as day to him, as she stared at him mockingly, even toying with an apple between her hands, sharp nails digging into the fruit's flesh, before her dark eyes shifted from looking directly at him to up, up and towards Emma's bedroom window where Graham knew Aislinn slept.

"No, no, don't you dare."

The trash bag fell to the ground forgotten as Graham half ran and half just pushed his way back into the house, crashing up the stairs to get to Aislinn. Maybe he wouldn't be able to stand against the magic of the Evil Queen, but dammit, he would do everything he could to keep that little baby, and her mother and her brother, safe from Regina Mills.

Emma heard him before she saw him. How could she not? It sounded like a band of elephants charging up the stairs. Or an excited Henry running up to tell her something amazing had happened. However, she had just gotten the baby to sleep and whoever was running in the direction of her room was in serious trouble if Aislinn stirred.

The moment she saw Graham, her face eased into a smile. Then a scolding smile, which really, only a mother could perfect. She was happy to see him. Always was, and wasn't that new and different from her? But that much noise deserved her scolding face.

Unless something was truly, seriously wrong. And the thought made her blood run cold and the smile slipped from her face when she saw his expression. Graham wasn't in anything resembling a good mood. What had happened now? Who was cursed this time? Her mind ran in a million places and her hand rested protectively against Aislinn's cradle. The cradle that had been meant for her. Her mother, her father, Ruby... Who had the sorceress' latest victim been? Emma wasn't stupid. She knew her name had been in Peter's report to the witch. He'd told her that Emma hadn't wanted to fight her, but maybe that wasn't good enough. Maybe she'd gone after the people closest to Emma, and she couldn't handle that. If that was the case, Emma would well and truly fight her herself.

"Graham? What's wrong? Who... What's happened?" Because maybe she was overreacting and that wasn't the case at all.

Or maybe the moon really was made of cheese and NASA was going to shoot it down and cure world hunger.

No. No, no, no, no, no. She was there. Regina, still with the smirk on her face, but now with her hand on Aislinn's cradle. The cradle with Aislinn in it, and where was Emma anyway? Had she already been hurt? Worse? Part of Graham's instincts were to go and find Emma, potentially before it was too late. But there was no chance, no chance in hell of him leaving Aislinn alone with the Evil Queen.

"Back away from the baby." His voice was a low growl, the wolves who had raised him would have been proud. "This your plan all along? Wait until some other witch was hurting the city, take your revenge on Emma and blame it on Maleficent?"

But of course it was. Wasn't that just how Regina worked, with lies and blame and trickery. It made him sick, as much as his gut twisted with fear at the idea. She would do whatever it took to hurt Emma and Aislinn and then probably use the grief to get closer to Henry.

His eyes narrowed as he stared at her, waiting for her to make whatever catty and cruel comments she inevitably would make. "You're going to find that I'm not so easy to kill a second time, Regina. And you know what? I would die before I let you hurt that little girl. So back away from her, right now, and maybe I won't actually hurt you."

Ordinarily, she might've found overly protective Graham impossibly sexy. It never ceased to amaze her the way he'd taken to her baby girl, loving her as if she was his own. It was more than she could have asked for and god help her if it didn't send her postpartum emotions into a nosedive. And she couldn't deny, that voice would ordinarily have sent a delighted chill down her back.

But his words sank in and her eyebrows lifted. "You're kidding me, right?" she replied, incredulous. "Revenge on...Graham, it's me. I am Emma." And it hit her. Before he even said the woman's name, she figured out what he was thinking. And all she wanted to do was protect him from it but how could she do that when the woman wasn't even there. "I'm not going to hurt the baby, hun. Never. See?" She raised both hands in the air, like a prisoner up for surrender. Ironic, that, given their history. Maybe that bit of history would spark something in him. Because this? Wasn't her Graham.

"I would never hurt my baby, Graham. You know that. You know that better than most anyone."

The only thing that made sense was another damn curse. This was her punishment. Or else Maleficent found out she was the one who'd outed her spy. Either way, this was...the opposite of good. He was calling her Regina and all of her gentle, soothing, pretty words weren't going to change that.

He could hear the words, see the movements, but the tone was the cruel sarcasm of the queen and hands that were raised still seemed to have those sharp nails that could have easily broken an infant's fragile skin.

But the gesture, that was Emma. But no, not a chance, this was a trick by Regina, getting into his head, using her magic again because she was lying, all she ever did was lie and hurt people, people he wanted to desperately to protect. Graham blinked, trying to focus his eyes on a scene that made no sense. Besides, where was Loki? He didn't pretend to understand the immortal man, but didn't he have some kind of magical protections stuff going on? Or did he? Had Regina broken them even if they did exist?

"This is a trick," he finally spat out, staring at Regina with a cold fury. "You're going to hurt them. All of them, and I can't, I just can't let you do that. I don't care if you use every piece of magic you have, I will stop you."

Aislinn shifted slightly in her cot, still peacefully asleep, and the movement made Graham glance at her. So tiny still, and so vulnerable. From the very first moment he'd seen her, he had basically been lost, swearing that he would do whatever it took to keep her safe.

"Move away, Regina. I'm not going to ask you again."

Dammit. There really was no other explanation. Maleficent. Regina wasn't stupid enough to make Graham think he was seeing her. Even if he did kill Emma thinking she was Regina, she'd still be around. Others would let him know and then he'd be even more hellbent on revenge. No, much as she hated the woman, this wasn't her doing. This was obviously a curse from the psychobitch.

She wasn't afraid. Not really. Maybe she should have been. But obviously it was only her he saw as a threat and not the baby. At the moment, he would do anything to protect her daughter and that was all she needed to know. So long as Aislinn was safe, Emma could handle anything else.

Though knowing where Henry was at that exact moment might have been helpful.

Her eyes drifted down to the baby, weighing her options. Her gut instinct was grab her daughter and get the hell out of there. Her secondary reaction was that irrationally thinking Graham would accidentally hurt the baby in his fight with 'Regina'. And that deep-seated thought that she so rarely allowed to pop up was that she cared too much for this man to let him suffer through the fear and anger running through him.

"Graham," she tried again, her voice slow and even. "Listen to my voice. It's not Regina. No one in this house would've let her in, you know better. This house is well protected, I've made sure of it myself. No one is ever going to hurt this baby. Least of all me." She was running out of time, and options. If she didn't make a choice soon, if she couldn't get through to him, he was likely to snap.

And maternal instinct kept her firmly rooted to the floor, her hand still clinging to her daughter's bedside.

There was a point there. The house was well protected. Incredibly so. Regina shouldn't have been able to get in, unless the magic she now had was more powerful and who truly knew the limits of the Evil Queen?

Who knew the limits.

Rumplestiltskin. That was one option. Unless the Dark One was suddenly in league with Regina again. It had happened before, hadn't it? Who could Graham actually trust to help him protect Aislinn, and Henry, wherever Henry was. Was he safe? Was he too late?

"How can I trust?" The words were deliberate. Not just how could Graham trust the person speaking to him, who looked like Regina but spoke with the same calm intensity of Emma, but trust everything? What was real and what was a trick? Was it his eyes lying to him or his ears? How much magic could Regina cast?

He took a step forward until he was within arms reach of her, his gaze burning with a barely suppressed fury. "Real or not, trick or not, nothing else matters but that child being safe so move away."

How can I trust.

Oh, god. The words were heartbreaking. But they were true. After everything he'd been through, all he'd seen and done and been forced to do... How could he trust anyone? Even her? Graham Hunt had every right to hate the entire world for what all he'd dealt with. But he didn't. He cared for her, he cared for her family, her kids. He was willing to face a powerful sorceress to protect her child. And not just any witch, no. The one who'd forced him into slavery, blackmailed and used him for years after that, and then, for no other reason than Emma had won, killed him. Really, he should resent Emma for what had happened. She did, sometimes. But he stayed with her, he kept offering sweet dates, little kisses, nights talking after they'd put the kids to bed.

She realized then what she should have before. What she'd only felt two other times, and she'd been so badly burned by them both. But this was Graham. He wasn't Neal, he wasn't Jim. There was no criminal backstory here. Only a man who'd led a life among the wolves before growing into a hunter, killing only to eat and make a little money. He didn't steal like Neal had. And he sure as hell didn't kill or run a crime ring or anything ridiculous. And as hard as she'd worked to prevent it, as high as she'd built her walls, she'd fallen for this man, and hard.

Though, you know, self-preservation and all. She reached out and grabbed the first thing she could reach. A unicorn lamp. And, as carefully as she could to be effective, she knocked out the man she'd only just realized she loved.

When Graham came to, he'd find he'd been leaned against the bed, tied up, and looking worse for wear. All she could do was hope she'd knocked some sense into him. Knocked the curse out of him. But, if not, at least here he was safe. Here she could watch him and make sure he didn't hurt anyone else until they were able to get through this.

She'd talked to Lois, her friend had come and gotten the kids, and Lois' ridiculous notion kept floating through her head. Please. Disney curses. Whatever. She simply sat on the floor several feet from Graham and watched him, occasionally glancing at her phone to see who else had snapped. Mostly, though, she kept an eye on her very own sleeping beauty. And he really was handsome, wasn't it? When he wasn't threatening to kill her, anyway.

Ow.

Really, ow. Graham didn't have much time to react between seeing Regina move a little and the blinding pain that smacked into the side of his head. The split second thought that came to him before he blacked out was; well that's not her usual style.

When he came to again, his head was thumping. He let out a groan and tried to move his hands to rub at his temples, to try to ease the aching away, only to find his hands jerked back sharply. Because he was.... he was tied up? Seriously?

"What the..." The words were really more of a groan than actual syllables but the confusion in his tone was more than clear. Blinking, he tried to look around, figure out where he was now. The perspective felt all wrong and it took him several long seconds to actually realize he was sitting on the floor. On the floor and Regina was sitting there a few feet away.

Abruptly, he tensed, looking over to her with fear and fury in his eyes. "What the hell are you doing?" He tugged at the restraints, a futile effort that just served to make him angrier.

A few deep breaths, trying to calm himself down, and then Graham looked around sharply. "Where's Aislinn? Dammit, Regina, where is she?" The anger in his voice gave way to fear as a deep panic began to set in. "Do whatever you want to me, but please, god, please, if there has ever been a shred of decency in you, if you ever actually cared for Henry even a little bit, please don't harm those children." Begging. Pleading with Regina, something he never thought he would have to do, something his pride would never have let him sink to before. But to protect the children he loved so much, it was an easy price to pay. His life for theirs, really wasn't that much when he thought about it. Assuming Regina had any hint of compassion in her twisted heart.

It wasn't like she wanted to hurt him, and she winced when she saw him coming to. She felt awful and would've taken away his hurt in an instant if she could. Maybe if she was better with that damned magic, she actually would have been able. As it was, she had no choice but to sit and watch him get his bearings.

"Betting that hurts. We'll get you some aspirin. But you know I had no choice...well, I hope one day you'll figure out I had no choice." Because obviously, she did have a choice. But what if he'd run around the city, intent on killing Regina for hurting her and the baby? If he hurt anyone while he was in this state who wasn't Regina, he'd never have been able to forgive himself.

The now familiar pulling at her heart as he tried to get away almost scared her. It was still so new, feeling so deeply for anyone. Each time it surfaced, it only got her hurt. Admitting to what was going on inside of her wouldn't be, couldn't be easy, not given her history. But it might be the only way to reach him. And she couldn't allow him to go on suffering. The anger she'd expected. Raging fury at being bound against his will, at having lost the baby. But the fear... God, the fear. That nearly tore her apart.

"Listen to me, Graham. Listen carefully. Please." Graham begging Regina was rare, but Emma begging anyone was a sight to behold. "No one will hurt Aislinn. You get that? Because she has incredible people like you in her life willing to stand and protect her." Though she knew it was still possible for him to hurt her, though she knew it was probably the stuff of his nightmares, seeing Regina that close, she scooted forward, close enough to take his face in her hands and look him in the eye.

"And you... She will never hurt you again, do you hear me? Never. I will never let Regina Mills touch you again. She'll have to face me first. I don't share well." She leaned in further, her forehead touching his, her eyes staring into his, blue on blue. "I told her when she first got here that you would never be her prisoner again. And I meant it. I'm not letting that happen. I can't...I..." Words that were always a struggle. Henry and Aislinn got them on a regular basis, but even with Snow she fought for them. And only two men had ever heard them in her entire life. Both had left her numb and cold and afraid of the world. And it was a lot to ask her to say them again. A huge risk, putting herself on the line.

But if it would save Graham... "I love you," she said softly, once again being the first to offer those terrifying words. And she brought her mouth to his, kissing him gently. If anything, that had to convince him. Regina hadn't ever kissed him so tenderly, loved him so incredibly much.

Everything felt so damn confusing. Regina was there, but Regina was talking in a way that made no sense. Begging him to listen. In a way the Queen had never done and that made him pause. Saying that no one would hurt Aislinn, that she was protected, but where was she? Was she safe? Was Henry?

When Regina came that close, when she touched him, every muscle of Graham's body tensed and while his first instinct was to recoil, to fight, to run, to do something, he froze in place, not even pulling against the restraints. Just there, letting her talk. In a way that so truly and deeply sounded like Emma. It felt as though a fog was pushing at his mind, and Graham wasn't sure which of his senses to trust so he just stayed still.

Until those last words. I love you.. And the kiss. Only one kiss had come close to that before and that was Emma, that time in his office, when the Dark Curse had been lifted from his mind.

It was the same feeling all over again, the fog lifting, the world becoming clearer once more. Gone was the short black hair in front of his eyes, and in its place was the soft blonde waves he so liked being able to brush his fingers through. Emma's lips, Emma's kiss and Emma's words.

Graham responded to the kiss for a moment before pulling away, just a little bit, so he could stare at Emma with now clear eyes. "Emma." God, she was brilliant. The one person who could truly make things real for him. The smile he gave her was full of wonder before he leaned forward again. "I love you too." Spoken just loudly enough for her to hear before he brushed a kiss of his own against her lips.

She knew it would be Regina he felt kissing him and she was sorry for that. And, to be honest, breaking this curse on him was far from her mind. Lois' words weren't even in the forefront at the moment. And all the prince had to do was kiss Aurora, he'd never had to tell her he loved her. None of that was a concern to Emma just then. All she cared about was somehow letting this man know that he was loved and cared for and he'd never be under the reign of that horrible Queen again.

So when she felt his lips finally moving under hers, she couldn't help smiling against his mouth. And then he was pulling away and saying her name and god, had he really just said that? That he loved her? What was she supposed to do with that? She couldn't take it back now. But did she really want to? Her head was swimming but her hand was wrapped in those curls of him, sliding through one individual strand before moving to another. He was handsome and kind and brave and good and exactly what she shouldn't get to have in her oh-so-screwed-up life. But she couldn't make herself care.

Everything was worth it for the smile he gave her. She smiled back, kissing him again, rather thoroughly and quite enjoying being in control where her bound love was concerned. In fact, she was smirking when she pulled back and sat on her heels, simply watching him. "Good to see you, too," she told him, laughing a bit. "You know, Sheriff, I'm beginning to think we could stop this Apocalypse just by kissing. Apparently we're quite good at it."

Her words were teasing, but her voice was sincere. And there was still that hint of fear in her eyes that always came from spilling out emotions as she just had. It wasn't an Emma thing to do. That wasn't his fault, or anyone else's. It would just take time was all.

Really, sitting there and being kissed by Emma was definitely one of his favorite things to do, and the more she kissed him, the clearer his mind felt. Graham remembered the curse, the feel of it, the fear and rage, and later he knew he'd be quite furious with Maleficent for doing that to him, and no doubt many others. Others he would want to check on fairly soon.

But not quite yet. Because for a little while longer he wanted to just be with his girlfriend (and wasn't that still a terrifying concept, girlfriend) and enjoy their kissing skills. And he had to smirk a little bit. "I think our kisses can now officially count as epic. That's twice now you've freed me from a curse with the power of kissing. Very impressive. Though I'm thinking Aislinn being born might be up there too." Which reminded him, all joking aside he glanced at Emma with a momentary concern. "She is alright, isn't she? Her and Henry both?" Even though he now knew that Regina hadn't actually been inside the house, that need to know the children were both safe was intense.

He could see the hint of fear in her eyes, and he could guess why. Because love was scary. It scared him, who had so little idea what he was actually doing and was feeling all these things for the first time. And Emma had been hurt before, he knew that much. Not all the details, and maybe he never would, that was fine, but he knew enough to understand that she had loved the fathers of both her children and they had both hurt her. Inwardly Graham swore to himself that he would never be the reason her emotional guards went up any further. He had screwed up many things in his life, Emma would not be one of them. Not when he loved her so very much.

So he gave her a silent acknowledgement of her worries, simply leaning his forehead against hers for a moment, before softly kissing her again. A promise to her that he was there for her as long as she wanted him.

And, he had to smirk some again as he half shrugged against the restraints. "So, now that you've got me here, whatever are you going to do with me?"

"I'm pretty sure our kisses counted as epic before," she teased right back, and she curled up at his knees, one hand resting lightly on his legs. Anything to be close to him, to know that he was there and safe and better yet, no longer cursed. "You did send me into labor after all," she reminded him. And then he was asking about Aislinn and god, that's why she loved him. Among other reasons, but come on. She was a single mom with two kids, neither one with men she'd be all that proud to tell them about as their fathers. And yet he wanted to be with her anyway.

No, it was more than that. He didn't just want to be with her despite her kids, which may have been enough for some women. No, the reason she loved him was because he loved her and her kids. From the first moment she'd put Aislinn in his arms, she'd see his face change. The way he'd melted and fallen in love with her tiny baby. And he was so good with Henry. Talking to him like an equal and not looking down at him. Defending him whatever the cost.

If that wasn't enough to make a mom fall in love, what else would? "They're fine," she reassured, her other hand drifting to his cheek and running over the soft scruff of it. "Ruby Winchester set her place up a safe house long ago thanks to one of the bauble wish things. She invited anyone with kids to take refuge and Lois offered to take Aish and Henry so I can be here with you." Which might have sounded more like an excuse to get the place to themselves had it not been for how worried she and Lois had both been when she'd handed over her daughter and explained the situation to the best of her knowledge.

He was so good. So different from Neal and Jim, and yet in some ways, very similar. Fiercely loyal and protective to the few he let in his heart. Tall, dark, a bit broody but certainly optimistic enough to balance her when she wasn't. And vice versa. They balanced each other, in a way she'd had with Neal, but the much more legal sort. And she liked it.

"Good question," she replied, eyeing him. "The thought of keeping you like that has occurred to me. I can be pretty kinky when I want to be?" Her words were teasing and her eyes flashed with mischief, but she reached in her pocket for the small army knife she carried. This man had lived too long as a slave in bondage for her to joke about it too much. She'd never give him reason to fear her. She'd meant that, after all. And as she released his bonds, she reached for his hands, lifting them to place feather light kisses along his wrists. "Not too bad," she said, examining them. "You weren't out for too long and you didn't get much time to fight me. You should be okay."

"The kind of kisses that power ballads get written about," Graham smirked in agreement, and he couldn't help but look a little proud at the reminder that his kiss triggered Aislinn's birth. So she wasn't genetically his, he still loved her like his own daughter and that was the important thing. And he loved Henry too, such a great kid, far wiser than most adults, and the reason Emma had even turned up to Storybrooke in the first place.

And knowing they were both safe made his shoulder sag with relief. "Good." So much emphasis on one word. The idea of them being hurt was horrific. The vague notion that he might have done it under the influence of the curse was even worse. But Lois was someone he trusted to keep them safe too, so Graham felt able to relax again.

Well, relax as much as he could with his hands tied. He raised an eyebrow suggestively while looking at Emma. "Well, we were talking about which of us had handcuffs...." Still he was glad when she cut him loose. He trusted her, he loved her, but waking up bound wasn't something he really enjoyed, not after everything Regina had done. And it meant Emma was able to take his hands, making him smile as she kissed his wrists.

"I don't know, I think I need to be kissed better more. Possibly a lot more." There was even an attempt at pleading puppy eyes before he shifted his arms to wrap around her and pull her close. The woman he loved. He kept running that thought in his mind over and over, enjoying the way it felt. She just fitted in his arms so well, as well as in his heart. She had been the one to make him truly feel again, to free him from more than just the literal curse. The woman who could make him laugh, make him think, make him love. She was brilliant and she didn't even seem to realize it herself.

"Also, I think you need to be kissed better," he nodded as though he had made a serious decision. "In fact I'm going to test this theory." Still holding her, he leaned in and kissed first one cheek and then the other, before kissing her lips again. "How are you feeling?"

He looked like the entire world had been lifted from his shoulders when he'd heard the kids were safe. And wasn't that something? Someone so intent on protecting her children? He deserved everything she could give him and more.

She let herself be pulled against him, finding a comfortable position that was all but in his lap. She made a perfect fit by his side and Emma looked up, returning his kisses softly. Then perhaps not so softly. When he asked her how she was feeling, she rolled her eyes, her fingers tracing over his chest. "I'm not the one who was just beaten with a unicorn lamp." She'd thought it'd be nice for the baby to have something of her room with her. Stupid choice. She wasn't even all that fond of that lamp to begin with. That didn't mean she wanted to break it over her boyfriend's head, however.

"I'm fine. I promise, I am. You didn't get a chance to hurt me and you..." She leaned up, pressing a tender kiss against a spot that was bound to be sore for a while. "Well. You'll be okay eventually?" She still felt terrible but she hoped getting her to confess some pretty major feelings would help him deal with that. And the kisses he was now getting in exchange.

Her face was tucked into his neck and she placed a few strategic kisses along his throat. Since she was there and all. And it was absolutely impossible to stop the smile from spreading across her face. It wasn't right for her to be this happy. Not after all the mistakes she'd made. But she really, truly was.

It was amazing really, how well they actually fit together, their bodies just working really well. Graham always felt just so comfortable with Emma pressed against him, especially practically in his lap like this.

"Well, that is true, being hit by a unicorn lamp was not really something I had in mind for today," he commented with a dry smirk. "Though I suppose I can be glad that it wasn't something that was actually valuable or attractive in some way." There was an apologetic half shrug from the shoulder Emma wasn't leaning on. "I'm not a big unicorn guy, sorry." Not that he actually looked very apologetic, the smile that wasn't quite leaving his lips giving it away.

His head was going to be sore for a bit, and there would probably be a bruise for a little while, but it was a small price to pay really. Compared to what could have happened under the curse's influence. And besides, the fact that Emma had been there, and brave enough to say what she had and kiss him even while he was ranting and raving, that definitely helped a lot. "I will recover quickly enough. Epic kisses and everything, better than medicine." And he was only half joking on that score.

He made a contented noise, angling his head back a little to give her more access to his neck because really, it felt damn good. It was strange to think really, the Huntsman who had never been comfortable with humans, the Sheriff who had always known something was missing, and now he was genuinely happy, with the woman he truly loved in his arms and knowing the children he loved like his own were safe. Even with the bruise on his head, life didn't actually get much better than this.

"Blame Lois, I'm pretty sure she bought it," she replied, regarding the lamp. Stupid lamp. "Now I can get rid of it and tell her it died protecting the baby. She'll be happy, we'll be happy, and the stupid unicorn will be gone." Though she wasn't sure what he had against unicorns. And Henry might actually miss the stupid thing. She'd find something more authentic, that might help.

She'd have to let her friend know that the coast was clear and she was no longer in any immediate danger. And, eventually, she'd probably have to tell her friend all the things she'd just admitted to. But for the moment, she was more content to kiss him, to draw those sounds from him that sent little shivers down her spine. All she knew was how much she wanted to hear them again and again. To give him the pleasure he so deserved. To show him what it was like when you actually wanted to be with the person touching you and kissing you and needing you so badly.

She shifted, then, straddling his hips and allowing herself more access to him. Looking down into his eyes, she couldn't help smiling. And wasn't that still strange? Being genuinely happy. And she was, wasn't she? Not just with him, though god, she really was with him. But her children were wonderful, she was surrounded by family, she had friends and money and literally everything the other kids in the homes had wanted growing up that she'd never allowed herself to wish for.

"I love you," she whispered again, before bringing her mouth back down to his, her hands resting at his shoulders. It was still a struggle to say, and she imagined she'd have to do so a few more times before it was truly comfortable. But it was a start. And it gave her the liberty to allow her kisses to stray, to explore the sensitive skin of his jaw, the soft scruff scratching her mouth and making her giggle. "Yep, even love that, too."

Graham looked dubious at the broken lamp and then back to Emma. "Lois is great and everything, but she has some dubious taste in lamp design. Or at least someone does." Not that there was anything wrong as such with unicorns really, it was just that they were so.... sweet. And pink. And girly. Not his taste at all.

Something that really was his taste, was Emma. Especially an Emma kissing him like that. When she shifted, he smiled against the kiss, wrapping his arms around her to pull her closer with a faint groan of satisfaction. He'd spent his life keeping people at arm's length, with Emma he wanted to keep pulling her closer. And it was a true want, his want, not something forced on him. This love of his life.

And he wanted to kiss away all the hurts of her life, all that wariness she carried around. To make everything just better for her, because Emma deserved that. Growing up alone had been tough for her, having her heart broken those times she had dared to love, and Graham silently swore to himself that he would never ever allow any more pain to come to her. Keeping her safe and happy was more important to him than anything.

Her giggle made him laugh, that lighthearted noise that just sounded so good from her. "You sure? Because I could shave if you wanted me to, hardship though it would be." He shook his head playfully, gently brushing the scruff of his beard over her mouth a couple of times. "I love you too. You gorgeous, brilliant woman."
