Lois watched Emma as she spoke, not sure she believed the whole 'do what needs to be done' approach. Though maybe that was all it came down to at the end. Maybe you really did just learn your baby's cues and go from there. She scrutinized the tiny infant across from her and pursed her lips, unsure she'd ever learn the kid's cues.
"Are you sure I won't?" She was still pretty damn sure she could do it. "Did I ever tell you that Clark flew me to Paris after you had me watch her? I needed wine to calm my nerves. I mean, she was perfectly fine. Nothing went wrong even though I had countless possibilities running through my head on what could happen but...I don't know if I'll ever not be worried I'll break her somehow."
Lois leaned back against the booth and sipped her latte. "Plus she's going to get more squirmy soon and that just ups my chances for droppage."
