Who: Annabeth and Percy
What: Annabeth disapproves of sudden, unexpected moves. And temporal shifts.
When: Sunday night
Where: Some dumb, dark street
Rating: Low
Status: Incomplete

One would think she'd get used to this kind of thing by now. All right. She could work with this. She was a) alive, b) in the middle of an empty road, c) somewhere warm, that was d) English speaking. Probably American too, she'd wager, just based on the architecture alone. Though the Christmas lights sparkling probably were a better indication. Annabeth hefted her backpack higher on her shoulder and spun in one slow, tight circle, gaze darting around the darkened street in search of anything unusual.

Other than the obvious.

She hadn't been standing here a few minutes ago, that's for sure. No portals. No angry clouds. No raging monsters. Overall, if she didn't know better, she'd say she just walked here herself. Except she did know better. Unusual or strange things always happened for a reason.

She just wasn't sure who to blame yet.

If Percy Jackson had known who he was about to run into that night, he might have prepared a speech upon how to convince her that he was not at fault for her sudden teleportation. Though as it were, he was unaware. He was on his own as usual, skateboard slung over his back and trucks between his fingers. He'd been out a bit later, helping Rose repair the center some and then wandering the city assessing the damage. He hadn't ever made friends very easily, infact he wasn't even sure how he'd come across Rose or Florence, but he had. With them the city seemed a lot less crue and he was grateful. Still around this time of year he was lonely. Winter breaks he usually got to spend with his mom away from camp.

It'd been a long time since he'd seen her, and he worried. However apparently expressing that worry made him 'emo' so he mostly kept to himself these days. After the incident with the cranky sick jerk he really didn't feel much like forcing his hand. Maybe if they saw him working bit by bit to help they would come to trust him. Sure on the outside he looked to be some dumb kid, but Annabeth of all people knew otherwise. As usual he wasn't paying attention to where he was going when he literally turned a corner and ran straight into her.

"Hey!" He said, started as his skateboard fell with a clatter out of his hand and rolled away a bit. "Er, sorry." He said before he realized who it was exactly standing nearby.

[ooc: holy crap sorry about the lag. I'm trying to keep up though now that Christmas is over!]

"Watch it, Seaweed Brain!" She stumbled backward, catching herself on the wall and scowled. She'd recognize him anywhere at this point. Even when he was doing a surly teen routine, which, apparently he was. "I swear to Zeus...what did you do this time?"

Because when it doubt. Blame Percy. It might not be fair or anything, but she usually wasn't wrong.

Wincing at the familiar insult, he raised an eyebrow. There was only one person on the face of the Earth that he would allow to get away with calling him that, and she couldn't possibly have been there. He'd been there so long now, he would have noticed if Annabeth had arrived earlier on right? Apparently wrong. He looked up in shock and piercing blue eyes stared at her. "I didn't do anything!" He emphasized, immediately feeling his blood boil. How in the world did she always manage to rile him so much? After a moment or two he grinned. "You have no idea how happy I am to see you."

Kansas was not a friendly place to him lately. Seeing Annabeth felt a little bit like home. He desperately needed that. After what happened with Peter he was trying to figure a few things out. How could he help if nobody wanted it? What even was this backwards world where the cranky ass jerk was right? He hated it whatever it was. "When did you get here?" He asked finally in concern.
