At least Abby seemed willing to talk about it and not shut it all away as she had been trying to. Forced happiness only got people so far and Ziva didn't like that Abby had to fake the happiness though she doubted the forensic scientist was a fan of that either. So right now, it was figuring out just how to help Abby deal with her nightmares, how to deal with surviving an explosion, how to handle the stress from it. Because it was scary. It was just something Ziva had needed to accept and so she couldn't pinpoint just what it was that had helped her as a child.
The good thing though was that Abby seemed willing to actually talk about what was troubling her. So hopefully that would help. Or at least give Ziva something more to work with so she could try to help. Because who else would understand? There were people here who had gone through horrible things, maybe even similar things, but that situation? The people involved? It was just the two of them.
"It is but I am sure you will find the words you want even if it takes time."
Pacing really would have caused Ziva agitation. She understood that it was just Abby being Abby, and the nervous energy, but Ziva would probably snap at some point, which was the last thing either woman needed. So instead she just listened to both what Abby was saying as well as what she didn't. There was a reason she was an investigator. Because the fact that Ziva had been the one to come instead of Gibbs meant that Abby was combining the two situations together. Both the explosion as well as her own death.
Okay. How to deal with that beyond the obvious stating of her being there and being fine. Because they both knew that Ziva's line of work alone put her in danger, not to mention the Seal. The Seal which had let her come back this time around but was far too fickle for anyone's taste.
"I see...."
But how to answer that, how to help. After all. Neither knew the outcome. They knew that they had each been with someone when the explosion happened. Who knew about McGee though... So they could probably assume that Tony and Gibbs were fine as well, but as it seemed each was from the blast and not after, maybe not. It was something Ziva had been trying to make sense of, and one of the few times she would not have minded them being fictional if it meant getting answers. Instead though, they could only speculate. Or hope the Seal brought someone from home from after then so they could finally know what had happened.
