Who: Ziva and Abby
What: Abby has yet another nightmare about certain things. Ziva needs to help her. Well, they have to help each other because that's what friends do and they need to stop avoiding this elephant in their apartment.
When: Some time in the late night hours tonight
Where: Their apartment
Warnings: Mentions of explosions, possibly mentions of death, everything else TBA
It was no small miracle that Abby was finally sleeping. She hadn't had a good night's sleep since she'd showed up here again. Nightmares plagued her, mostly about NCIS headquarters blowing up and various scenarios of those she knew and loved dying in it. But when Ziva had been killed, her nightmares, when she'd slept, had also started centering around losing Ziva. Abby didn't deal with loss well. It never went well when a team member was killed. Though Ziva being brought back to life had helped in some respect. It meant she didn't have to mourn the loss of yet another friend. She'd hugged Ziva nearly to death, and while the nightmares about losing Ziva had subsided, the other nightmares were still there. Lack of sleep was nothing new to the forensic scientist, she all ready kept insane hours as it was prior to these series of events. But this lack of sleep was something else entirely. It wasn't just part of her normal routine, she would avoid sleep for as long as she could and do anything to keep her otherwise occupied so her mind wouldn't dwell on things.
But of course, she only had so much work, and she did have to come home sooner or later. Did she know Ziva, Tony and Jenny had noticed her behavior pattern was more neurotic than what was normal? Most likely, but Abby never voiced anything, and the others didn't seem to press the issue overly much, if at all. It wasn't like her to not talk about things, she did have a tendency to babble, but this was something she didn't know how to talk about because she didn't know how to even begin to process it. Many times she'd wanted to ask the others how they dealt with these kinds of things, with the explosions and so forth, because Abby didn't know what to do about that. After all, Abby wasn't a field agent, she'd never been in the army or anything, she'd never experienced something blowing up first hand. She'd always dealt with bombs and bomb fragments in a forensic lab setting. So it wasn't really any wonder why Abby was having a difficult time with her nightmares and memories, and why the event had left such an imprint on her.
But for the moment, she was sleeping. Abby had laid down on her bed intending to read, but her body had decided it needed sleep instead. As usual, the nightmares returned, and she tossed and turned in her sleep, every so often whimpering. She was back in her lab in NCIS headquarters and she heard the alarm going off. She needed to get out. Did she have time to make it out? Oh it was difficult to tell, but suddenly Ziva came bursting through the door in her lab, grabbing her arm as they both made their attempt to get out. That's when the bomb detonated and everything around them seemed to explode.
"ZIVA!!" Abby cried out as she bolted up right in bed, suddenly wide awake. Luckily the light in the room was still on, so as she looked around her in fear, she was able to tell where she was. It was another nightmare. Getting out of bed, she went to the door of her bedroom and opened it, intending to ensure Ziva was still there.
