Merlin was facepalming at the appearance of an Arthur when he felt something odd happen.
For a moment, it felt very like an Earthquake, the sort of thing he had heard of once since he had been here. But it wasn't that. Suddenly, he felt every magic, every magical part of him, completely shatter and fade away. He screamed as it happened and collapsed off his bed and to the floor, his head whirring sand his ears ringing.
So much was his discomfort that for a moment he did not realize that there was a slowly building grinding sound, and a shuddering. When he did realize it, he also realized why, and he swore. The floor trembled ad the roof came apart, and the very walls and floor beneath him shattered and fell. The magic was giving up and gone an what had been mixed and made by magic was returning to it's component parts.
Merlin staggered to his feet and raced for the window, dodging falling ceiling bits and jumping as the floor seemed to dissolve. He almost reached it when he felt something heavy slam into him and he was carried down, slamming into sundry other items as he fell, down into the dissolving and shattering tower.
Pain slammed into him and his mind reached out for one thing, even as he fell.
A last word slipped his mouth before darkness swam up with a hearty swat and carried him down.
"Emma."
Within moments, there was only silence in the lot where once a tower had stretched tall, silence over a pile of rock, steel, and shattered things, where only dust swirled in the wind.
