No one knew better than Peter how hard it could be just thinking about those bloodsucking leeches. He nodded in understanding, trying not to let his face show the guilt and pain. It was already his fault she had been killed in the first place, his fault she been alone when she looked her death in the face. He wouldn’t add making her talk about it to the already long and still growing list of all the things he’d done to hurt her.
“It’s not too far,” he said quietly, not quite able to meet her eye. “When we get there I’ll help you get a room set up and some clothes to wear until you can get some new things. I’m pretty sure there’s some rooms on my floor still open.”
