That whole conversation had pretty much landed her no where. She was still a kid, and she still had a lot of power that could cause massive destruction, but no one really cared to hear about that. So that was that. To say she was pissed off was an understatement. Her apartment was still raw, unfurnished. She needed to find a job to support herself. That was a little more plausible with no rent to pay. She had a little pocket money left, and with some of it she was heading out for coffee.

She'd picked up a sketch pad and pencil the other day. Not a very good pencil, but it would do. Before she left, she rolled up her sleeve to look down at the still black rune on her skin, the ones used in this world for anti-possession. It was permanent, and it was better than any necklace.

Twenty minutes later she was inside a Starbucks, having found a seat in the corner. In front of her was a vanilla latte, and a chocolate cookie that was demanding to be eaten. She'd kicked off her shoes to sit in the over stuffed chair, and leaned back with her sketch pad in front of her. She was stuck here, she couldn't get back. Things had just calmed down for her, things were getting on track, and now it was a whole new world all over again. Only this time in a different reality, but with no Simon and no Jace.

Without even thinking, her hand began to draw.

Phoebe's head was still reeling from all that her sister had told her, as well as all that she'd read on the boards, to the point where she had finally decided to take a walk. About twenty minutes in, she found a (thank the gods) Starbucks, and decided to head in to see if they made the tea the same way the restaurants in San Fran did. She sat near the window, dark eyes watching as people walked by, finding herself wondering if any of them might be possessed. She didn't like the fact that demons were non-coporeal until they possessed someone, and that killing the demon usually resulted in killing the person.

She missed San Francisco and, dare she say it, the life she led there, with her sisters. Paige seemed so much the same, and so much different. At this point, she was actually the same age as Phoebe, which made her feel even more strange.

After she sipped about half her cup, she saw someone who looked familiar come in and get a drink and cookie. She watched her out of the corner of her eye for a moment, then finally stood with her cup an bag, and walked over.

"Hi...you're Clary, right? I'm Phoebe." She smiled brightly at the teen. "I think we met on one of the boards. Do you mind if I join you?"

Only a partial outline of the figure she was drawing was on the paper when she heard someone say her name, and her head shot up, green eyes peering out behind carrot colour bangs. She only had to study the women for a minute before she realized who it was.

"Right." she said with a slight smile. "Phoebe, the one who offered combat classes." yes, that was her, which automatically put her in Clary's good books. At least some people knew that even the underage crowed needs to know how to take care of themselves. Some of them have anyone else to look after them but themselves.

Clary looked at the seat across for her and motioned with her hand that it was fine, she could take a seat. "Sure." she said with a half smile. She didn't really know the woman but a familiar face around here was always nice, even if it wasn't as familiar as she was looking for. "Are you a fellow caffeine junkie?" she asked, tilting her head slightly.

“Yep, that’s me. Except it’ll probably be a little closer to self defense classes.” Phoebe gave a light shrug, then sank into the cushioned chair beside her after the teen agreed. She took a sip from her paper cup as she settled in, tucking one leg under herself.

She nodded with a grin, holding up the cup in response to the question. “And proud of it. I usually drink tea – thanks to my Grams. She was a huge tea drinker and she raised my sisters and I after our mother passed away. But when it’s early morning, I go for coffee. Just need that boost occasionally, you know?” Her nose piercing became evident as she tilted her head a little, studying the sketchbook that Clary wasn’t exactly hiding. “Oh, I’m sorry for interrupting your drawing! Do you have a particular subject, or is it from memory?” Dark eyes shifted to glance around the restaurant, as if she might somehow be able to spot whoever it was Clary was drawing.

She wasn’t trying to be nosey, she was honestly just curious. She had done some drawing herself, though she’d be the first to admit that her skills weren’t the greatest.

Well, either worked really. All she knew how to do now was what she could with her Stele, and what she could do while mindlessly waving a sword. She got really lucky sometimes.

Clary nodded, knowing full well what it was like to need a caffeine boost. She liked Coffee well enough. She wouldn't say she was addicted, but it had major benefits if you didn't go overboard with it. She looked momentarily confused for a moment before looking down at what she was doing. "Don't worry about it." Clary said, waving it off. "I'm just messing around." she would often just randomly draw when she was lost in thought. "From memory." she answered with a smile, as it usually was. Sometimes she had a subject to watch, but not when it was mindless drawing.

"It's just part of the outline. I sort of just got lost in thought and started drawing."

"Well even though it's not far along yet, it's very good." Phoebe sat back into her chair and sipped some more of her tea. "So, Clary...why don't you tell me about yourself? Who were you before you ended up," she waved a hand absently, "here? I just would like to know a little about you, since I'll be teaching you." She smiled at her, hoping she didn't come off as too pushy, or nosey.

She could sense some nervousness from Clary, and was doing her best to put her at ease. They would have to trust one another for her to teach her self defense.

"Thanks." she said with a slight smile. If it could be defined as very good, she wasn't all to sure. It was just as online. She could draw, she wasn't perfect, but she could draw.

Clary set down her pencil, looking at Phoebe with interest. She'd been under the impression that didn't matter what experience she had or where her life came from. At least someone was asking. She'd got the speech of 'i wont ask questions if you don't want to tell, but we're here if needed' from Buffy but she hadn't said anything then.

"I just came out of a war, actually." she said, looking out the window the a frown. "An uprising, sort of, that I helped stop." and all she wanted was her fireworks, her Shadowhunter training, and Jace. She didn't get any of that now.

Honestly, Phoebe liked to know a little about someone before she started teaching them. It was easier to anticipate things, that way.

"A war? Wow." Phoebe had some experience with that. She'd been embroiled in a magical war between good and evil for almost seven years. "You helped stop it? That's great!" Which meant that she should know something about fighting already. She could sense that Clary was sad and homesick, and all the witch wanted to do was help her feel better.

"Well, that means you might even be able to teach me a thing or two! And since you have some experience, it should be fairly easy for you to pick up what I know."
