Who: Amy (narrative)
What: Amy is haunted by the spirit of Ed Lee
Where: Priestly’s apartment at the complex
When: present day, morning (set as if Priestly stepped out for a moment)
Talking with Priestly had Amy feeling slightly more secure than she had felt upon learning that Jerry had found his way through the seal to Lawrence. Her boyfriend seemed to have a knack for making her feel safe. Of course, there was the occasional doubt plaguing her mind, making her think that it wouldn’t be impossible for Jerry to find his way inside of the complex and somehow get his clawed hands on her. She tried to keep a straight face so that Priestly wouldn’t worry. That was the last thing she wanted to happen - Pushing her own insecurities onto him.
She didn’t exactly have a good night’s sleep, though. The nightmares were back and in full force. Three times she’d woken up, gasping and launching up into a sitting position. Even if Jerry couldn’t physically get to her, he was occupying her thoughts even as she slept. By morning she was exhausted from all of the interruptions in her slumber.
“Wakey wakey.” Amy blinked slowly. It took a moment for the voice to register, but soon she’d figured out who it was. That voice wasn’t Priestly’s, but rather that of Ed Lee. She kept her eyelids closed, but wrinkled her eyebrows in confusion. Amy was pretty sure that she waking up, that her dreams were over, but if she wasn’t dreaming how could she be hearing Ed coaxing her out of her sleep? Slowly, she opened her eyes. When she saw Ed’s actual, physical form she scrambled to her feet looking quite terrified.
“How did you get in here?” Her gaze shifted from Ed to various spots around the room, trying to locate something, anything she could use as a weapon. Something was wrong. Ed looked as he had back in Las Vegas in Peter’s place, in the garb of a delivery man with his arm chopped off. It didn’t make sense at all. Priestly would have never invited him into the apartment.
“Aw, it sounds like you’re not very happy to see me.” There was that mocking tone she hated so much. Even when Ed was human she’d hated it. He’d always been bitter and resentful of her.
“No, I’m thrilled.” Amy said, her words dripping with sarcasm. With two hands, Amy gripped a lamp tightly. This wasn’t like the time she’d faced a vampiric Ed before. Back then she was surrounded by artifacts and ancient weapons. This was an average apartment. The lamp was the most useful thing she could spot right away. It was doubtful that some piece of furniture would do any use in defending her from a vampire, but it was something and she was better than she would have been had she been completely unarmed. “How did you get here?”
“Beats me. I just kinda am.” Ed shrugged with one arm. Amy didn’t know what to make of the reply. She hadn’t expected a straight answer, of course, but something was off.
“Is this because of Jerry?” Her voice shook slightly as she spoke. When she mentioned Jerry’s name Ed practically lit up with a creepy, fanged smile.
“So he finally found his way here.” He let out a quiet chuckle. “Man, you guys are screwed.” The moment Ed began to walk towards Amy, she took off. He was blocking the clear path to the door, so she ran for the closet. It wasn’t exactly a panic room, but it would have to do. She threw the lamp at him and closed the door behind her, panting for breath.
