It had been such an innocent mistake. Not even a mistake. All Marguerite had wanted to do was check to see if Rachel had heard back about her audition. How was she supposed to know a man would show up who looked just like Percy? Yes, she knew it was possible. People had facetwins here, which meant someone could be the facetwin of her husband. She knew this, but it wasn't something for which Marguerite had braced herself for in case it happened. Perhaps she should have. She had been in Lawrence for two months now. She knew anything was possible. The crossed time lines. Some even from death. So why hadn't she prepared for this possibility?
Would the Seal bring her husband here? And if so, from when? Marguerite didn't know though it was something she hoped for all the while fearing at the same time. Hoped because she missed him so much, because they had so much time to make up for, so much to say that they never got the chance to in the theatre. Yet feared for it because she didn't know when he might come from and if it from when he didn't trust her, from when he shut her out... she didn't know if she'd be able to handle it, not now, not knowing what she knew.
When she was alone, trying to sleep, that was when it was the worst. The memories. Seeing him die in front of her only to show up here before she could join him in death. She managed to get through the days, she could still smile and interact with people. But how much of it was an act? She genuinely meant what she said. That she lived her life because Percy would want her to. That it was important to hold onto the good and live this life as it was so short and uncertain... But now she was lost and her heart ached all because of one man's face. It was even worse when she finally had seen the date. September 2nd. Two hundred and twenty years ago, she had been married, yet it didn't seem that way. She and Percy had only been married a few months, and only had just rediscovered one another before Chauvelin killed Percy. All the wasted time, the time stolen from them. It weighed heavily on her and the date on the calendar made it worse.
Thankfully it seemed as though Jack did not need her help to get to the complex. He had friends here. Because while she would have helped, she didn't know just how she would have handled it. To be near this man who was an exact copy of her husband in appearance. No, it was better she not get him. Not when she was so raw. She didn't even know if she would ever be able to take him up on his comment on if she ever needed anything...
Feeling as though the walls in her apartment were closing in on her, the twenty four year old dressed and started towards the cafe she had found. There were days she felt older than her years and days when she felt younger. Today she was both. And she was alone. Oh, she had made some connections, but it was England all over again before Marie had shown up. Surrounded by people who were kind, polite, even could be friends, but without husband or brother. She had hoped that feeling would go away but today it was back full force.
Once she arrived to the cafe, the red head forced herself to smile and ordered her drink before going to an outside table and just holding her face in her hands. For all of her attempts to move forward, she seemed to be back where she had started when she had first shown up here.
