Mara's words brought him little comfort but he knew she was right. The Seal could send any of them back. And he knew that only death awaited himself if he were to ever be sent back. Still, he did not want to see Gaia's light and smile extinguished in any world. But what could he do? There was nothing he could do if the Seal chose to send them back. Part of his mind suggested he reject Gaia and harden his heart but he couldn't do that. He cared too much for her. He loved her in his own way.
At Mara's next words, Galen looked over at his mentor and friend. "I do not think Gaia would ever want to harm a person." Physically at least he knew. She did not seem to have the stomach for making violence. He gave a faint smile to Mara and nodded. "I will keep her safe here." He sighed softly. "But do I tell her of what I found?" he asked, glancing at Mara. "I don't think I could keep that from her..."
