"I will thoroughly enjoy learning about these ideas and projects and rise to greet them with an open and curious mind. I will just be tentative in my use of everything within your lab until I am better acquainted with the technology. As they say, there is always a first time for everything. It has been over a century since I last engaged in scientific projects with another like-minded person." Helena had been working on her own inventions since arriving in this place, but inventions were different from scientific pursuits.

Helena really should start taking her own statements to heart, but she really wasn't in the mood to believe in hope right now. All she could do was get through the day one moment at a time. And sometimes just getting from moment to moment was a battle that seemed so daunting to her.
When she finished the piece of pie, she set the plate down and looked back at Bruce. There was almost a desperation in her dark eyes. Desperation for something to save her from herself. Flipping some hair out of her face, she took a breath. "Hope is the gateway to life. To be without hope is to not be alive. Hope remained within Pandora's box for a reason."
