Rikki took a deep breath and listened. She wasn't ready. She hadn't been ready to tell anyone. Part of her had been hoping that it wouldn't even be an issue in whatever world this was. She stared back at him in uncertain silence as he spoke. Was it a trap to lure her into comfort?
But, as he went on, Galen leaned forward and stretched a hand out. She watched with wide eyes as he pulled an orb of water out of the pool. Her jaw went slack. That was how Cleo drank water. Orbing it up out of the cup and popping it into her mouth. That way, she didn't spill it. The way it ribboned around his hand reminded her of the Tentacle of which the girls had been so afraid before they'd found out it was there to help them.
As the globe fell back into the pool, Rikki squinted against the small splash. She'd met Superman, Batman, a werewolf, and a bunch of Harry Potter characters. This guy said he was a Star Wars Jedi and he had Cleo's control over water in its liquid form.
Rikki shifted herself again, finding the tail much too heavy to pull herself out of the water. In the Moon Pool, she was usually able to claw her way out because of the angle. This one was a ninety degree one. Even flipping her tail beneath herself to try and propel herself upward didn't help enough. She was stuck. If she wanted to get out of the pool, she was going to have to ask for help, she realized, and she didn't have her phone or computer with her to ask for Anna. "Swear you won't tell anybody," she said in a low, serious voice. "Ever. It's my secret and it's not for you to share," she reminded him, extending a hand toward him. "I can't get out by myself. I didn't think of that when I got in," she admitted.
