Aurora was looking forward to the evening, getting out and doing something normal. Well, normalish. Going for dinner with a younger version of her boyfriend was pretty strange, but it was still better than talking to a Batman who reckoned she was his sidekick in some crime free future, or dealing with a waterfall-happy Dad who knew her as a 9 year old. She'd avoided the boards all day for that reason, only checking in on her private posts, nothing public.
Pulling the door behind her, she glanced in the window and nodded to herself - she looked good. It wasn't as revealing an outfit as the last time she'd seen Alex, but she'd figured it'd be a little unfair to tease him too much so soon. So she'd gone with jeans, a silk shirt and a leather jacket, all of which had been acquired since her arrival. The restaurant was only a few blocks away, and it was a pleasant enough evening, so no car had been commandeered for the trip. She hadn't bothered to tell her parents she was heading out - her dad probably already knew she'd left, and her mom would text if she got worried.
Strolling down the street she contemplated exactly what Bruce had told her earlier. The idea of her as a crime fighter was hilarious, but if her parents were gone in his world (she couldn't, wouldn't think of them as dead, not in any reality) she could almost understand it. It would, after all, be the easiest way to get revenge, and if Bats had lost his ridiculous morals hanging out with him wouldn't be so bad. Plus, he said he'd made her a suit, a proper firebug kit. Maybe she'd ask him for the plans while he was here. It would certainly beat the mediocre tools she had here; her usual arson kit and the makeshift, handheld close range flamethrower she'd fashioned after she'd arrived. Patting the inside pocket of her jacket to make sure it was still there she turned a corner onto an empty side lane, still deep in thought.
Which was why she didn't notice the black eyed thug until he was less than a metre from her, advancing with definite ill intent. A demon. Not good. She spun, pulling the mini-flamethrower from her pocket as she did, only to see another approaching, this one female. Not good at all. Pushing down the button she aimed at the womans face, fire catching in her hair and melting her skin. But she wasn't stopping. Auroras eyes widened and she faltered for a brief second, disbelief on her face. Nothing could ignore her fire, nothing! The feel of a hand on her shoulder snapped her out of it though and she tensed, ducking underneath it and driving her fist hard into the mans stomach. He didn't even flinch. Another punch, but again, no reaction. Then she was being grabbed from behind and struck over the head. The world disappeared, replaced by the black behind her eyelids.
