A couple of days ago, everything seemed to blow up in Darcy's face. She'd been mourning the disappearance of Clark Kent and suddenly she had been faced with a bigger distraction she could ever have imagined. Her children were grown and they were here. They'd been dating or wanted to be, they had their own personalities and they were so much more clearly different people than she'd so far been able to pinpoint in their younger selves. She felt badly not noticing that Dick had gone, but since he was back, she was glad to see him. Part of her wondered if she was using Dick to fill the void that Clark had left, but in a different way. She needed someone to take care of her, even if she wasn't ever willing to admit it and Dick promised he'd look out for her and the boys. He was a good friend. It took a conscious effort for her not to project any feelings deeper than that onto him, because it wasn't fair to either of them for her to try to, but all the same, and that not withstanding, she enjoyed having time around him. So, when Dick agreed to let her take him shopping, she'd jumped at the chance.
Having decided it would be easier just to pack up the boys to come along since she was already attempting to recruit Ben to watch them so she could take the older twins for a birthday dinner, Darcy got the two of them bathed and dressed and then, the three of them headed down to the lobby to meet Dick. Darcy already had a game plan for the day. This was going to be so much fun.
Twins in tow, Darcy squinted just slightly against the sunlight and pushed the complex doors open. Spotting Dick almost immediately, she smiled. "Hey. Hope bringing them along is okay?" she asked, nodding down at the kids. "You ready?"
