“Attacks?” Doreah tilted her head slightly, eyebrows just a bit wrinkled with a mixture of curiosity and concern. “I suppose it does make sense.” She nodded, answering her own question. “I’ve heard this apocalypse described as a war.” The time she’d spent in Lawrence, presumably safe in the apartment complex, had been peaceful. Thus far she had no complaints, though she imagined that her situation might change with time. It seemed that just about anything could change with time.
“Well enough,” She answered with a smile. “I was lucky enough to arrive with gold on me. The apartments are free, but very little else is. As for customs...” Doreah let out a sigh and shrugged her shoulders a bit. “I have some learning to do.”
“You mentioned the sea,” That curious look had returned. “Have you been on a ship before?” There was a trace of a smile on her face. In Lys, she’d heard stories of adventures on the sea. She had traveled over the water only once, the trip from Lys to her new life with the Dothraki people, but she’d enjoyed it a great deal. The sound of the waves, the saltwater mist on one’s skin... She wanted to experience it all again.
