Leela knew she could get it done, and she wanted to be the one to plant it. Knowing the Doctor, neither of them could get in and out without leaving some trace. And as far as she knew, none of the other companions here had the same knack for sneaking like she did. Being a tracker in her tribe definitely paid off for something.
