It seemed all Felicia had done since getting here was go drinking with people. First Gwen Raiden and now..well now Peter Because drinks with Spiderman wouldn't be awkward at all given past histories. They were...complex to say the least. At the very basic level she wasn't Mary Plain and couldn't ever give him what the redheaded actress that should probably never go into musicals could. She'd fallen for Spiderman, and it had taken her too long to realise she could have been happy with Peter too. And now it was probably far too late. But he was here, and she was here, and she supposed friends was enough. God knows she needed them.

She'd managed to go shopping with what megar amount of cash she had, she hadn't even gotten to pull a heist yet. But she'd found a reasonably priced, off the rack dress and shoes to go with for under 50 dollars. And she'd been wearing pretty nice earrings when she'd arrived. Brushing out her hair Felicia mused about what she'd do about the Black Cat. She'd need to find material. She'd made the first one she could make this one.

She didn't think Peter would be so bold as to swing in her window, not to mention she'd seen the security this place had, and it was tight. She'd have a hard time beating it. Not impossible because, well, she was her. She'd have to try and beat it for kicks.

But not tonight. Tonight wasn't about Black Cat. It couldn't be.

She left her room locking it behind her and took the stairs as quickly as she could in her new shoes to get to the lobby. Peter would be on time, he was always on time. He was Peter.

"Had to be the both of us didn't it, out of everyone to get pulled here, had to be us." she said more bemused than anything else at the turn of events that had let her and Peter Parker to this crazy mixed up world of demons and apocolypses.

He had arrived early, actually. The only time Peter would ever attend any meeting late was if Spider-Man was needed elsewhere. Felicia would understand that. She had said so herself when he had pointed that very fact out to her on the boards. The boards. They didn't use anything like that at home. In fact, he had been fairly distant from Felicia as a whole. The internet was an interesting bit of technology; it brought people together, people who probably weren't supposed to be.

Maybe this had been a bad idea after all.

"There are other people here, too," Peter pointed out immediately, fingers rising to tug at the loose tie that hung around his neck. Peter didn't have much to his name when he arrived. His costume and himself. That was it. He'd humiliated himself in the park the day before by 'pretending' to be Spider-Man so that he could earn enough money to get a few things that he needed. Speaking of needing - that one girl, Needy, had been helpful. He'd have to remember to go back and thank her again when he had the time.

She looked nice. Peter made a mental note not to stare. Not getting caught up in all of that again, he thought to himself. He was better off now. He had Mary Jane...who was still getting over what had happened with Venom. They'd adjust. They'd get better. He was sure of it. As soon as he got back, everything would be just fine.

Felicia turned hiding the momentary pain in her heart just from being around him again. Things hadn't ended spectacularly. And now he was back with the actress. Or getting there at the very least frm what she'd heard.

"Yes there are, even a girl from home. Just a kid Spider...their parents were bad guys out LA way. Crime Lords"

She moved toward the door, adjusting her wrap around herself and stepping around him so as not to make things even more ridiculously awkward between them. This was just dinner between friends. Friends who used to have a...whatever, something, between them. But that had changed, oh how that had changed. She'd made him unlucky, nearly gotten him killed and had planned to end it to save him. But he'd done it first. Because she loved the Spider more than the man.

"How are you settling in?" she asked, catching his gaze as she stepped through the door. "I mean, I know its not ideal. But do you have somewhere to stay. You could stay here?"

"A girl from home? Who?" Peter hadn't been interacting with too many of the people who had been dragged here with them as of yet. Needy, Felicia, a few others. Briefly. Most of his time had been spent adapting and figuring out what to do next. Where was this Seal? Was there a way to repair it? Some sort of alternate way to create a new one to replace the one that had been broken? It might have been magical - though Peter preferred to believe that there had to be some sort of rational, scientific explanation - but that didn't mean that it was the end of it when it came to tampering with it. Who had put the Seal there? Who had found it? Who had broken it? It was all a jumbled mix of questions and theories jammed into his brain and it really drove him crazy when he couldn't figure something out. He was going to get this. He had to.

Stepping to the side slightly as Felicia moved past him, Peter cleared his throat awkwardly and followed up to move beside her. Not entirely beside her, but close enough for people to recognize that they were two people - friends - who were headed toward the same destination. That was it.

"I've been told to come here," Peter said, looking up at the building as they stepped out, "free apartments, huh? We don't get those in New York." He tried to sound lighthearted at that. Lighter was what he needed to be. It wasn't easy after all they'd been through.

Felicia took a few steps into the night air thinking of the girl with the parents she so hated. The criminals. And of course of her pet dinosaur. That was unique, she believed. There was a dinosaur in Lawrence. Really it had to be good as a tactic against the enemy, through a dinosaur at the enemy they'd never see it coming. Peter meanwhile she was sure, had been being scientific at things, and theorising and generally being smarter than most people cared to be when presented with something fantasical. And this most certainly was. She wondered, amused, if she could confuse him with what she'd heard of the city.

"Her name is Gert" she finally said, "And she has a pet dinosaur thats going to live in the apartments with her. Apparently its very friendly if you're not a supervillan". Teasing Peter Parker never ever would get less fun for Felicia. It was very simple. And an endless source of amusement.

They walked, a very very safe distance apart just as she knew he would, just as she supposed she should. "So come and live in the free apartment with the ex and the dinosaur all under one roof" There it was and she'd said it. The ex. The word was out there and it was up to Peter what he decided to do with it.

"A pet...dinosaur?" Peter had heard of science experiments gone wrong, resulting in raging reptiles, but dinosaurs? Perhaps the creature had been mistaken for a dinosaur. Maybe it was something else entirely? "Are they allowed in the building? Pets, I mean." Peter looked over his shoulder again, the building behind them growing smaller as they walked along the sidewalk. Still at a friendly distance. Friendly. Not too friendly, but it wasn't so bad. "I don't think they should be..." His experiences with large, dino-like creatures hadn't been all that pleasant as it was.

The ex. He winced visibly. Peter didn't like the term. It made things awkward. And weird. Decidedly, he chose to ignore it and shrugged. "I might have to. I don't have any money here. Free rooming - what else can I do?" He wasn't about to go sleep on the streets. He'd never get any rest if he did that. Peter would always be watching and waiting for trouble. He could find solitude in a closed off location. Private. A room of his own would be more than enough.

Felicia laughed, He just sounded so very very suprised at the concept of a dinosaur. She had been too and she supposed seeing it from the outside was funny. Pets. Thats what he asked. About, pets. She supposed that would come down to this Buffy and Andrew that she'd heard a lot about though not yet officially met. She'd have to do that. But not tonight.

"Yes Peter, a pet dinosaur. She and a group of her friends fought their own parents, said Crime Lords. The Pride, out in LA, they're the kids that exposed all that. They're just schoolkids, and they had to do that. Makes you see how lucky you and me are doesn't it. You had the best Aunt and Uncle in the history of the world and then there's my Mom and Dad. I mean everything I am is cause of Daddy, even now"

Distance, always with that bit of distance. It was expected. Needed.

"You should stay in the apartments. It'll be fine, we can work out a way to get you home to Mary Pla...to everyone. And me back to relieving New York of its choicier items. Good times.

Peter couldn't argue with her there. Aunt May and Uncle Ben had been the best of the best. Her father, on the other hand..."I wouldn't make any comparisons between the people who raised me and your father." They had clearly been brought up in two different worlds. That still didn't make what Felicia chose to do during her free time okay. It wasn't okay. Spider-Man was just as capable of getting away with burglaries and heists - something that a guy like Peter, who wasn't exactly in the most financially stable of environments could have easily given into for money. Instead, he went on about life the hard way. If someone as simple as he could accomplish as much, why couldn't she? Why did she have to be so complex and confusing?

A pet dinosaur. Peter was really going to have to talk to someone about that. The girl. If anything, he kind of wanted to see it. That mostly depended on whether or not he'd lose a limb. He might have been Spider-Man, but he only had two arms and legs. Not eight.

"To everyone." He shot her a warning look. She was just picking at all the wrong nerves tonight, wasn't she? "We need to work on how to get out of here. This time wasting thing we're doing isn't going to help us solve anything."

He had not just... Ugh it was the same arguement, Daddy had made mistakes sure, everyone did. But her father had loved his family. So he stole now and again. He was a good man. And she wouldn't have him insulted. Not even by Peter.

"Stop it" she said voice cool and almost icy cold. "My father may have been a criminal but he's no worse than me, and you were perfectly happy to work with me. Among other things, so get off your little arachnid high horse and realise not everyone has the perfect morality you hold to. I'm never gonna play the hero, Spider, but that hardly makes me a monster. Still maybe thats what you wanted all along. Maybe thats why its her you want and not..."

She trailed off, eyes wide and stepped back a little. She'd pushed it, again. Always pushing it with him, but he'd started it. "I'm sorry, you just...you don't talk about my father like that, okay"

Everyone. The Actress, whoever. She had just wanted to have a good night. Now, now she was spoiling for a fight.

"....want to skip drinks then, go looking, I don't have my Cat costume here, I'll need to figure that out soon. And look about getting some money. I'd say us but you wouldn't want it would you. You'd rather starve or something stupid."

Peter wasn't impressed. Or surprised. Her father might have cared for his family, but it didn't change that he stole and took away from other people who also had families to provide for. "My Aunt and Uncle aren't criminals," Peter said, voice barely even, "comparing them to your father - they're not the same."

Peter stopped walking when Felicia mentioned MJ again. He knew she had issues with her, but really? Was it required that she bring her up every five seconds? He had agreed to come out with her tonight for the sake of keeping the peace; instead he was getting insulted, he was insulting her, and it felt like nothing but trouble was bound to come out of their agreement to go out and do something normal that wasn't based on the crazy that they were currently all wrapped up in.

Peter glared at her. "Maybe you shouldn't bring him up. And maybe you shouldn't bring Mary Jane up either. You don't know anything about my relationship with her and you never will."

He stepped around her and started walking again, staring at the ground as he moved as to count his steps as a calming procedure. He definitely needed to keep from getting angry. "I think it'd be better if I went looking. How are you gonna manage without your costume?"

This conversation would only get them both angry. Again. He saw her father as something less that he was, a criminal. Walter Hardy was a good man, and nothing he ever said would change her view on that. Beisdes he'd been a hypocrite, and he'd answer her.

"Tell me? How come you were able to work with little criminal me so wonderfully well. I'm just the same as him, maybe worse since I don't have a family to look after. Give me one good reason why you're any better than me if you were willing to be with me, work with me. You're a hypocrite, and my Father is just as good a person as your Aunt or Uncle."

She knew enough about the relationship to know it would never be perfect. To know that Mary Jane Watson just didn't have what she did and never would. In many ways she hated her, in many more, she wished she didn't exist. And here, right now, she didn't. And she was okay with that.

Manage without her costume. Oh no, she'd get a new one.

"I'll...find something. Always do. Shouldn't take me too long to get the materials if you avert your eyes for a little while, black fabric, white fur, Its an easy job."

"No, he's not," Peter said, flatly ignoring the rest of her questions. "My Aunt and Uncle had to tough it out their whole lives. Does your father know what that's like? Has he ever had to struggle through paying medical bills? Has he ever had to scramble for money to feed his family? Without stealing? Like I said before - don't compare them to each other. They're not the same."

Peter was really looking forward to getting out of here. He should have been swinging around the city, looking for anything unusual rather than staying here and arguing with her. Of all the stupid, idiotic things he could have agreed to...

It was his feelings. He was trying to ignore them, but it wasn't easy. Not with her here and certainly not when she kept subtly finding ways to bring it up.

"You're going to steal the materials," Peter said, sighing in exasperation. "You know I can't stand here and let you do that."

"Yes he had to struggle, Daddy wasn't perfect Peter, far from it. But he was a good man all the same"

He didn't have an answer for her. Nothing he could point to as to why she was any different than Walter Hardy, why he'd allowed her into his life, fallen for her, fought alongside her. Felicia believed he'd wanted to change her. He'd never stood a chance, not really. She wasn't a bad guy. That would have to be enough.

"Can't watch me 24/7 you know. And one day you'll be out swinging around and you'll spot Black Cat all prettied up un expensive fabric, an dmaybe I'll be doing a heist and maybe I'll be saving lives. Who knows, You'll have to live with it either way cause short of webbing me to a wall somewhere for as long as you live you're not gonna stop me. I'm that good and you know it."

He could live with it. He'd have to.

"...Look do you want to just...go websling around all on your own, maybe this was a mistake. You and me, we argue more than most old married couples"

"I could web you to a wall," Peter offered, actually feeling pretty amused at the idea, "but that wouldn't stop you. I know you." Better than he would have thought, considering their opposing roles in the world. He had tried to change her. Peter thought that he would have been able to. Maybe he went wrong somewhere along the way, but when it came down to it she was always going to be a criminal. The Black Cat would always steal, no matter what Peter Parker or Spider-Man did about it. He could work on getting her thrown into prison, of course, but would that stop her from breaking out? Using all that money she dug up out of the places she robbed to pay her bail and exact whatever revenge she wanted upon him?

...would Felicia try to do something like that to him? And why was he even consideri -

"Do you think it was a mistake?" Peter turned abruptly, looking at Felicia with an odd mixture of emotion in his eyes. He was feeling more than anger, but he wouldn't let her see that. "Isn't that what I said earlier? That this probably wasn't a good idea? If you were going to see me come out with you tonight knowing how bad things are...why did you?"

He was right, webbing her somewhere wouldn't stop her, it would annoy her, and that never ended well for anyone. She'd escape, and she'd deal with the issue, not that she'd ever hurt Peter, she didn't think she could even if she was that kind of woman. Because he was wrong, he obviously didn't know her like he thought. Black Cat wasn't dangerous, she was a thief, a dammed good one if she said so herself but Felicia had only wanted to kill once in her life and she was still bitter she'd missed out on the chance to kill Ryan. He'd deserved it. But fate had robbed her of her chance.

Mistake, he was asking if it was a mistake.

"No, seeing you, its never a mistake, sure I sometimes dislike you, the things you say, the moralistic attitude problem, but you're important to me Spider, you always were. And we're both stuck here and I was..."

She'd never admit it, the blase attitude so very Felicia but she wasn't adjusting as well as she let on. She was scared, worried, and needed a friend, and she knew him so very well.

"I wanted to be around someone I trusted, and I trust you even if you don't trust me. Stupid huh?"

"We're both stuck here, but that doesn't change what happened between us and you know it," Peter expressed, frowning. Being here with her again was a strange twist of fate, one that Peter wasn't even sure he was happy with. It was more than nice to see her again, but it complicated things more than he preferred. But when weren't things complicated when she was around?

"There are a lot of people here you can talk to, Cat," Peter told her, "it doesn't have to be me. I can help you out, but in the long run it's probably better if you and I stay away from each other." He couldn't be around her for too long, otherwise he'd feel guilty about Mary Jane. He already felt guilty about her. She was probably panicking and wondering where it was that he had vanished off to. What was he gonna say when he got back? That he got trapped in an alternate universe with his ex?

Yeah, that would go down really well.

No it didn't. It didn't change anything. Because he'd finished with her, ended it because apparently she'd not understood that he was a normal person too. Typical him, very typical, dumping her before she could dump him to be the bigger person and walk away to save him. Jerk. But nonetheless she liked having him around, she always felt that little bit safer when she had him to call on.

"...Right because I make friends so easily. I'm social, Spider, but when do I actually let people in close as I let you."

Damn him he was probably freaking out, he was probably being nervous and worried about his own life back home and his little actress. Well Mary Plain, suck it up, the cosmos wanted him here she thought, to coin an obvious phrase, catilly.

"I pretty much need you in this place, so we're going to have to deal with what happened, we have to eventually don't we?"
