Who:Kon and Darcy
What: Randomness
When: Today
where: Clark's place
Warnings: I don't foresee any!

It'd been a couple of days since he'd broken down in school and made a total scene that would have labeled him freak for life had it not been for Allana's awesome mind tricks. Things were stranger then strange for him emotionally and it wasn't a thing that he was used to. He was used to being able to skirt around emotion with jokes and a strong front, but this was harder then usual. This involved Clark. Clark was the first person he'd really learned how to care about since escaping Cadmus labs back home. Despite all their differences he really did care, and this one had accepted him even quicker then his. To die because of his alternate with his face was difficult to swallow. It had been hard to remember at times that Clark was not the same as his alternate face. Kon had even started to distance himself very slightly from the older Kryptonian. Even as slightly as the distancing was, it was probably noticeable. In the past before the dying part, he could have spent days at Clark's apartment happily, sometimes a week went by before he stopped in now.

There were still times when he texted him at random just to see how things were, but for whatever reason he had trouble finding words to talk to him normally. He hated it. It was Friday night and Kon was alone in his apartment thanks to Allana being grounded. He could have been over at Clark's or Connors by now, but instead he was staring with an empty gaze at a video game infront of him that had already ended at least half an hour ago with his character dying a miserable death by being eaten. Kon found his heart just wasn't in Friday night Vege mode without a vegging partner. It was stupid to be cooped up alone when he knew perfectly well the chances of Clark doing anything besides his usual patrol were small. They could be trying to have a regular old vege night like they had before. Things could finally be getting back to normal.

Kon sighed and put down his controller, running a hand through his short dark hair he headed over to Clark's place and knocked at the door. He was tired of being so awkward with him. It was time for it to stop, they were family. They would be able to get through anything. At least he hoped they would.

Mostly over her panic about staying with Clark, Darcy found herself, as per usual, curled up on his couch in his empty apartment while he was at the Roadhouse working. She was reading a book, normally, but this book wasn't her average choice. Normally, Darcy liked the kinds of books with Fabio on the cover or something by Janet Evanovich, but earlier that afternoon, she'd finally gone to a bookstore and bought herself a new copy of What to Expect When You're Expecting, among a larger than probably necessary selection of other parenting books.

She was so engrossed in her book that when there was a knock at the door, the sound didn't really register all the way and she called out to Clark to answer it, by reflex, since it was still his place, after all. Then, upon finishing the paragraph she'd been reading, she realized her mistake. "One second!" she called out to the person behind the door as she put her bookmark in place, set the book on Clark's coffee table, and — with much more effort than she'd have liked to admit to — pulled herself to her feet.

Darcy crossed the room and pulled open the door after checking the peephole and her eyebrows were arched with slight surprise and maybe a touch of guilt, as she wondered if Clark had ever gotten around to telling his brother about them. This was either going to be really chill a moment...or a really awkward one.

"Hey Kon," she chirped with false confidence, pulling the door open and waving him in. "What's up?"

When Darcy opened the door instead of Clark, Kon couldn't help but raise an eyebrow. "Okay..you're not Clark, unless Clark is suddenly a girl I think I'm in the wrong apartment." He said with a hint of humor, but more curiosity. "Did you guys switch rooms or something?" He asked as he stepped inside with a shrug. "I was bored. Allana's grounded and Clark says school wouldn't exactly be a good plan after frying my desk the other day." He trailed off nonchalantly. As much as he complained about school it did kind of suck not being there. There was nothing to do during the day. No one to hang out with. School had been a stabilizer since he'd died. He'd pretty much immediately gone back afterward, needing the normalcy. Without it he was a little lost.

"Oh right..Clark works now. Sorry. I forgot." He remembered that Clark was a bar tender or something now. The idea of Clark bar tending was kind of funny. Part of him wondered if his drinks he served came with a lecture or not. Though surprisingly this Clark was quite a bit more relaxed about things like that then his would have been. His never would have even tried to answer his questions about liquor without glaring at him heavily first.

"Should I leave?" He asked awkwardly, unsure if Darcy wanted him around or not. Especially not after the Jacen thing on the boards. She'd defended him, but he didn't want to cause any more trouble then he already had.

Looking appropriately sheepish, Darcy shrugged. "Nope, not Clark," she confirmed as Kon made his way inside. She chewed her bottom lip slightly, behind his back, when he asked if they'd switched rooms, but decided to latch onto what he'd said next. Either Clark hadn't filled Kon in on their...situation...or...well, Darcy wasn't sure there was an 'or.' "You fried a desk? Nice," she said with a smirk, shutting the door behind him. "Well, if you're out of school for a while, you're always welcome to hang out with me. I've started early maternity leave because I finished my project at work way sooner than I thought," she offered.

Darcy nodded, giving a facial shrug. "You're fine. But yeah, he's at work tonight," she replied. "I'm sorry." But when Kon asked if he ought to leave, Darcy's eyes widened. "No! You're totally fine, sweetie, you can stay," she insisted. "I'm just reading. You want some tea or something? I could use the company," she finished, giving him a small, hopeful sort of smile.

...right, okay, it was going to be awkward then.

"Clark didn't think so." Kon said with a small shrug and folded his arms uncomfortably. He didn't know why this time was so strange to hang out with Darcy, before when she'd needed him it was easy. Why was it so complicated now? "Allana had to mind trick the entire class into thinking something exploded.." He trailed off and looked around. It looked as though Darcy had been there for a while. He knew Clark had been keeping an eye on her, but he didn't realize she'd moved in with him.

"Nah. Tea is boring." Kon was too impatient for tea. It always took so long to cool down. It was a very frustrating drink. "I've played through my video games twice already so yeah I guess so." Kon said with a tiny smile, not sure what it was going to be like to hang out with not Clark in Clark's apartment. "I'm kinda glad Clark isn't a girl again. That was weird." Kon was rambling a little bit, but he hadn't been prepared for Darcy to open the door. Especially when he'd mentally prepared himself to see Clark right away. "I have to go patrol soon, but I can hang for a little while."

"Clark's not allowed to think so, Kon," she pointed out. She thought it was kind of cool, anyway. The reason behind it probably wasn't anywhere near as cool as the act of frying a desk in and of itself, but it wasn't Darcy's place and she wasn't gonna go there. Her smile faded, though, when he mentioned that Allana had had to brainwash his entire class. Right, that...would be why Clark doesn't think it's funny. Got it, she found herself thinking.

Kon turned down the tea and Darcy opened her mouth to offer something else, but he spoke again. "I've just been sitting around reading. This book is making me even more nervous," she said, touching her stomach and nodding down at it reflexively. "I'm reading What to Expect When You're Expecting," she offered pointlessly. This was really awkward...she'd never had a problem spending time with Kon before, but she supposed that was because that was in her apartment, not his big brother's. Unexpectedly.

"Wait, what? Clark was a girl?" she laughed. "Wow, awkward," she said with a smirk. "Uh, you wanna watch something on TV? I can't, you know, do much so...that's kind of all I do these days," she replied, rolling her eyes at herself and pushing one hand against the small of her own aching back. She really should be sitting, she thought, but she couldn't seem to make herself move until Kon was willing to.
