WHO: Tyler Simms and Kitty Pryde WHAT: When the adults Nate is away, the kids Ty and Kitty come out to play get bored. WHEN: Sunday evening. WHERE: Kitty's apartment. RATING: PG-13 because of Ty's mouth.
A lot of strange and unexplained things had happened to Ty since arriving here, the biggest of which had been arriving here at all. It was hard to think of everything else, about how normal all of this was at times, when there was so much strangeness going on. But then things cooled down and Tyler started to realize increasingly more and more how bored he was getting, restless. He had long since made the decision that returning to school to finish his last year of high school wasn't the right thing for him. It just didn't feel right. This wasn't Ipswich and the high schools in Lawrence would be nothing like Lawrence, and without his brothers...
It just wouldn't feel right. He knew that. But that left him feeling antsy. He needed a car so that he could go places. He had owned his Hummer since he was 15 years old and been driving it that long, too. Now, he was suddenly grounded without it. So, he needed a job to get another car. Because feeling like he was on house arrest had been driving him a little batty. In his attempts to entertain himself, he'd felt himself slipping.
What does he do when he's bored? Use. It's what Reid used to do.
But he was better than Reid, and sure, he had been Using to keep in contact with Nate while he was gone, and he might have Used to get his laundry done faster, but those were little things. They didn't count right? Even in his head, the argument sounded lame.
So this? This was a good distraction, a good way not to be bored. Tyler waited five minutes after hanging up the phone before he was running down the stairs, taking them two at a time, and sat out front to wait for the pizza man. His cheeks were still slightly red as he stood there, thinking back to the slightly dirty comment Kitty had thrown out at him. He liked to pretend his was smooth, but it was times like this when his fumbling nature just proved how wrong that really was.
The pizza man arrived shortly afterward, and Tyler paid him before moving to head back upstairs at a much slower pace than he had taken them upstairs. There was a bottle of soda in one hand and the pizza in the other, and it wouldn't do to drop either of them in his eagerness to get back upstairs. Not that he was eager... Well, not exactly. He was so damn anxious to get his mind away from his boredom that maybe he was a little eager, but that would be the only reason if he was. Yup. The only.
He stopped in front of Kitty's door and gave the door a slight kick since both of his hands were full and called through the door, "Hey, it's me. Open up."
