Connor really hoped Kon wouldn't have a need to be that careful again. Clark was a special case. No, not Clark. Clark's alternate. Not creeped out at all by that, no. But still, who else could possibly compete with Kon? And he didn't want to see it come to that ever again.
"Well, obviously. I'm not going to take on a decent and respectable dog like a lab or a rottweiler. Kick those, they eat your foot, and where's the fun in that?" He was smiling, at least. It was good to have some things back to normal. And Kimberly wasn't pissed at him, and Allana didn't insist on being called Queen Mother and maybe the pieces could get put back together.
Connor glanced at the pavement as they walked, looking up to occasionally glance sideways at Kon. "A year? That feels crazy. I mean... I don't know. I guess in some ways, it finally does feel like I live here, you know? Like this is home and back there is just...old home. But... I can't lie. I miss it, still." And Abby. God, did he miss Abby. During the last week when he felt he'd had no one to turn to, he'd have done anything to have her there. "But remember, apparently time stops for them. Apparently, we get dropped right back where we came from. Tim won't even notice you've been gone."
"So... Halloween, huh?" he continued, trying to change the subject. No point in dwelling. They weren't going home. "That's right around the corner. Way to give your friends time to plan something, mate." Still, he grinned. Because at least he was here to pick a date.
