IF YOUR CHARACTER GETS PWND (TEMPORARILY), BRING THEM HERE FOR RUBY BBQ TIMES
The bullet in his shoulder didn't even phase him. Maybe it was the adrenaline, Sam didn't know. He didn't much care either. Nothing in this room mattered more to him than the woman trapped in front of him. Not just any woman. Ruby. The one who, in spite of the world screaming for him to steer clear of altogether, he had somehow managed to fall in love with. They had gone through all kinds of hell together, but nothing in the world would ever compare to the way that Sam was feeling now, looking across the room at her, watching as the hunters circled her and mocked them and threatened her very existence just by being in the same room. Sam tugged at the arms holding him in place, vowing right then and there that he was going to do everything in his power to make sure that every person in this room who had conspired to harm his would die a bloody, painful death.
Starting with the bitch who had just smacked his wife in the head with her gun. Sam growled in protest and rammed his shoulder back into one of the hunters behind him, but he was forced down on his knees again with a sharp jerk by the hand pulling his hair. "Leave her alone," Sam snarled, "leave her alone. I'll kill all of you. Let her go." They weren't listening. They were in charge now and they knew it. With Booth and Roger trapped behind him, Sam understood that they were outnumbered with every odd in the world stacked against them. That didn't stop him from straining against the hold around his arms. He wasn't going to give up. Not on her.
As the woman spoke, Sam found that the hard, cold demeanor that he had shielded himself with was quickly beginning to ebb away in exchange for something more raw and vulnerable. His eyes went wide and his voice instantly went from commanding to terrified. He had been strong and determined, fighting his way in here, and now...now he was looking at what they had done to her. Now Sam truly understood the severity of the situation and he found that he could feel nothing but the cold and painful shock of fear that had stabbed it's way into his heart and shock him to the very core. Everything was different now. Sam wasn't fighting to get at her, he was being faced with the fucked up circumstances that had brought him here in the first place. Hunters. People that Sam had once considered his own, looking to destroy the person that he had fallen in love with. And, oh, how they had destroyed her. She looked so damaged. If Ruby wasn't covered in burns, she was covered in blood, which meant that, somehow, those hunters had found something powerful enough to harm her. They had thought she was safer, without her vulnerability to holy water and Devil's traps. Looking at the broken shell of the woman that Sam had married now, Sam understood that they had been wrong.
She was dying.
Sam tried to fight them off again. There was never a moment then when he didn't try. Every muscle in his body pushed against the men holding him down, every part of his mind insisting that he never give up, that he keep trying to escape, because if he didn't, Ruby was going to be killed. She was going to die, right in front of him, and that...no. No. That was not okay. That would never be okay.
