It was only occasionally the demon would wake up. They hadn't really gotten too aggressive with her in terms of the burning, wanting to wait for Sam but they'd kicked and punched her on discovering the holy water wasn't having the effect they'd wanted. They'd brought her to the brink with exorcism only to let her relax and start again. They weren't going to send Ruby to hell. No, they were going to make Sam watch her die. And Ruby knew he'd come for her. She knew he'd find a way to get there knowing it was a trap. Andy could tell him what she'd said and Sam would still come. And Ruby knew it. She also knew there was nothing he could do to stop this happening. She watched them through swollen eyes. Not caring about the pain as soon as she saw their reactions change. One walked away from the group into shadow. Alone. Oh well that would be Andy wouldn't it. His power had impressed them all, she remembered well. Him and Ava. That's who lots of others had backed. One or two had said to watch Jake. But she, and Azazel had known it would be Sam. Last one standing.
She was terrified this would be the end of him. Of them. And it wasn't fair. They didn't understand. They never would. "...We're not...we're fighting hell..." she muttered. Keep them watching her, keep them focused on her. At least until the inevitable gunfire. Her man did so enjoy his guns.
"Walked away...for him. But no, you're morons. All of you, morons and you don't understand..."
One of the men hit her. A crack of knuckles across her temple. Yeah that one would bruise. And of course he didn't feel bad about hitting a woman because to them she wasn't a woman, she was a thing. Something that had never bothered her before but did now. Probably because of Sam. And because of the friends she made that didn't see her as a freak. That didn't see her as a monster. People that gave her, and were still giving her a chance to be just a person. Sam's wife, their friend. It was them that were keeping her from completely loosing it. Her family. Because they were family. Of course she had the other side of her family. Like Crowley.
Oh he'd want these souls. And she would be very very happy to give them to him.
"So scared of hell.." she said laughing almost deliriously as she decided to try a different distraction tactic. "You're gonna go there...gonna make sure you do..." Probably doing nothing for her reputation with these people but they'd die soon enough. "There's a real fire in the pit lady, worse than anything you can do to me. Burn me, least I don't have to go back there
