It was strange being back again. Everything was so hazy, and yet somehow the place felt like home. Just like she had felt at Hogwarts, before the war had started. Before they had been forced to go into hiding, before...
She still had bruises from her fall, which was the last thing she really remembered. She remembered falling, and those yellow eyes - those horrible yellow eyes, which were more monster than human.
Then she slept and dreamed, at least she thought she had been dreaming. Now she knew she hadn't been and it was making her head swim. She remembered bits of Lawrence like an old movie. An old movie with shaky black and white pictures and no sounds. She remembered Ron and Steph. Ruby and Sam. And she remembered Booth.
She also remembered once having a cafe, which was where she was now. It was different now, a bright orange neon sign said something in Korean where her name used to be. She didn't feel anything though, not anger, not sadness, instead she bit her lip and stared up at it.
It was a clear night and so silent Lavender's ears were ringing. She almost felt dizzy, like she was going to collapse. Whenever she closed her eyes she could hear, see and even smell the War. The smell of burning flesh was not something you forgot. Whenever her eyes were open she was in a dream world - a dream world which at the same time was real.
She had managed to get rid of her Saint Mungo patient robes by exchanging them with a homeless person. Sure she was now in a pair of horribly green baggy velvet pants and a sparkly nearly see through top, but there were worse things, right?
The sign on the door said closed, and as Lavender took out her wand she silently wished that the people didn't have an alarm system. That was one thing she didn't think she could simply hex away.
"Alohamora,' she whispered. The door opened with a soft click, and Lavender stood frozen for a few minutes. When there was no ringing, yelling or dogs barking she figured it was safe to go in.
It was so different, nothing like it had been before. The walls were a different colour, and the decor had changed. There was no sign she had ever owned the place before. For a split second she wondered if their food was bad, and hoped it was, but only a second. She dropped down into a chair trying to steady herself and the dizziness continued and her head began to pound.
She was home, but at the same time she wasn't. Where was she? More importantly...what now?
