Looking at her then, no one would have guessed how angry she had been moments earlier. Now, she just looked tired and slightly hurt. Relationships never worked out for her, so she tried to avoid them these days, heading off the hurt she always ended up feeling a few weeks, or months if she was lucky, later. She never wanted Clark to know she had feelings for him to avoid that stuff. And that on top of all the other stress of the day was just a little too much.
