"I won't forget it," Clark said clearly. He didn't want to give Lois the impression that he didn't understand, respect, or even return those feelings. What he wanted to do was make sure that she was all right before overwhelming her all over again. There was still the possibility of her already being horribly overwhelmed as it were, so he had to be very cautious with what he was saying and doing here. "I don't want to."
He let go of her. After everything, he didn't want to force himself on Lois. That would only alarm and scare her. "You don't have to stay, Lois. But I would really like to sit down and talk to you about all of this." He folded his arms over his chest and looked at her cautiously. Half of him wanted to drag her over to the nearest chair and force her to talk it out. The other part that was afraid of what she might say or do as a result refused.
