Lois shouldn't have been surprised when Clark stopped her, but she was. Plus, she was wondering why he had to be that close to her just then. Not that she didn't like it. Lois thought she shouldn't like it now that she knew he was an alien, but she still did.
"Because whether I meant to or not, I think I just turned the awkward dial up to eleven and it's probably best if I just... leave," she said quickly, looking up at Clark for a moment before looking away again.
"Just... forget I ever said that, alright?" Especially since she figured that if those comics and movies and stuff got anything wrong, it would be the fact that Clark had feelings for her. There was no way he would. Never mind that makeout session Clark had with the demon in her body a few months earlier, she remembered it all too clearly, but chalked it up to that demon being good at getting guys to do stuff like that.
