They were dealing with a serious, serious problem. For as long as he had been at home, keeping his secret had never been easy. Clark had to take certain precautions with next to everything that he did. From doing chores to lifting groceries to commonly walking through the streets. It didn't matter what he did, Clark was raised to be as careful with who he was as possible. The world could not learn about his secret. Nothing good would come of it if they ever found out who he - and Kara, as he glanced over at his cousin with a frown - were. That had always been his motto and he had stuck to it well. Then they got landed here. In this alternate universe, where google was familiar with the names of the small town people Clark was acquainted with, it was much harder to keep things quiet. Movies, TV shows, comic books. What was the point of having a secret as big as theirs was when entertainers seemed to thrive on it?
Standing uncomfortably, Clark looked down at the conversation between himself and Andrea on his phone. Lois was coming over, Andrea refused to lie, and that vampire wouldn't keep his mouth shut. What was going to happen? What would Lois do? What did she believe?
She couldn't find out. Clark didn't want her to know. It wasn't safe. And...they weren't exactly...normal. People usually had a problem with that sort of thing, didn't they?
Swallowing hard, Clark glanced to the door when he heard the heavy thumps. He couldn't move and, honestly, was grateful when Kara chose to answer the door for him. As soon as Lois appeared, Clark took a few steps backward. Lois was a tiny woman, he was practically made of steel, and yet he still felt the need to cower just slightly behind his cousin. And so he did.
