Truthfully? Galinda wanted to high tail it out of there. The look in Elphie's eyes took her back to the time where she had killed the witch who had taken Bonnie. And this time it was directed towards her. She knew that Elphie was dangerous like this. She had heard of what she had done to that little girl five days previous. But she couldn't give up on Elphie. The others wouldn't give up, but if she did? It would never leave Galinda alone. She felt bad enough that she had let Elphie go off on her own when they were in the Emerald City. If she had gone, maybe things could have been different. Oh, Galinda would never be able to handle the hate that would have been sent her way as well, but maybe she could have helped Elphie if she hadn't been so afraid. Yes, she had cast the spell to bring her to her best friend and ended up in Lawrence, but that hadn't happened for Elphie....
"No."
It was a simple word, soft but it spoke volumes. Galinda wasn't going anywhere. She was terrified. She didn't know what Elphie would do to her. She should call for Thor. Maybe he could help. But no... Elphie wouldn't listen to him. She would at least listen to the blond. Or so Galinda thought.
Taking a deep breath, Galinda steeled herself for whatever might happen and started to walk towards Elphie, taking a green hand in her own pale ones. She had to believe that this would work. She was supposed to grow up to become Glinda the Good. But what sort of person would she be if she turned her back on the one person who meant the most in her life? Oh sure, she loved Fiyero and wanted him back. But she knew deep down that would never happen. And even so, Elphie was more important. She always would be.
"Please, Elphie... let it go. Let go of the pain... let me help you.."
