Receiving no response, Galinda's nerves grew worse. What if she was too late? What if Elphie was killing someone this time? It would be on Galinda's hands because she wasn't fast enough. Because her future self had told Madame Morrible and the Wizard to spread the rumor about Nessa to lure Elphie out because her fiance had run off with her best friend.... Okay, so they had taken it further than she had told them to, but if she had stayed quiet, maybe Nessa wouldn't have been killed. Oh, it hadn't been her her. It was future her, but it still count. So really? Maybe all of this was her fault anyway. Perhaps....
But no. Looking over her shoulder to where Thor was hiding, the blond took a breath and turned her attention back to the building. She could do this. She had to do this. She couldn't fail Elphie. She couldn't let her die. People would want to hurt and kill her and she couldn't let that happen. She wasn't as stupid as people thought she was. She knew that Elphie would never forgive herself for what she had done. But to dive head first into death was the easy way out and Elphie was a fighter. She always had been. She knew that Thor was right. That she couldn't expect Elphie to not hurt her. That it would hurt the witch to hurt her if she came to.... But Galinda didn't care about her physical well being. She would reach her best friend. She had to.
Opening the door, Galinda winced as it creaked but she was in. Now she just had to find where Elphie was. Though the whimpers from the terrified little girl gave Galinda pause. Another child? Why was Elphie so focused on children? She couldn't understand this... But, it wasn't Elphie. Not her Elphie. Someone had manipulated her. And for whatever reason, apparently they had issue with children. So following the sound, Galinda came to the room the two were in, eyes widening in shock.
"Elphie!" And without thinking, Galinda raced to the bound girl and began to untie her, to free her. That done, she pressed a kiss to the terrified girl's forehead to protect her from harm and had her run out before she turned to face her best friend, steeling herself for whatever Elphaba might do to her. It ended here. With words and love. Not with fighting. Not like Galinda could fight anyway, but that was irrelevant.
