To say that Svetlana was overwhelmed was an understatement. She was just very skilled at hiding her emotions. First with Anatoly's infidelities and having to maintain the image of the good wife, and then with his defection. She had to remain strong under the public scrutiny for where she must have failed. It was painful, but Svetlana had spent most of her life hiding her emotions. Anatoly had changed that, and even now, he could still get her to respond, even if it was with anger these days. But at the moment? He wasn't there. And as she had told Freddie on the comm post, she had to respond well. She couldn't let Fayina and Jelena see her upset, they were already confused and scared. They needed her to be strong so that they could have someone to hold on to. Especially since their father wasn't there after having just come back to them. There was so much upheaval, they needed the stability Svetlana could provide to them. So she masked her emotions, she masked her fears. She just read what she could, found a translating site for what she didn't and then had to translate it into little girl.
At this moment though, the blond had decided that maybe it would be a good idea to get out of the apartment and explore. The girls were going stir crazy and as such, getting out seemed to be a good idea. Not that they would understand anything that was being said around them, though perhaps that was for the best at the moment. She wasn't sure what the standards of this place were in regards to how people spoke. Some of the clothing she had seen on people when she had been out were rather risque and it had been hard to explain to the two children what was going on. Especially since she was still trying to make sense of things. But once again, she was on her own to raise them.
Keeping her features under control, Svetlana led Fayina and Jelena to the elevator and pushed the button for the lobby, talking to the two quietly. She wasn't so worried about herself but she didn't know how to protect the girls from bullying based on the fact that they didn't understand English. She would teach them what she knew, perhaps figure out if the television was safe for viewing. But beyond that, there wasn't much she could do. She could only hope that people would be understanding.
As the door opened, Svetlana blinked as the two children ran out, talking quickly in Russian about if there might be a knight here only to run into someone. Shaking her head, the Russian woman moved to where they were, pulling them back.
"I'm sorry about that..." It was then she noticed just who the woman was and she felt the words die on her lips. This... was unexpected. And she didn't know how to respond.
