Kon rarely felt pain. When he did it was intense. The headaches were a horrible thing to have with a mesh of so many other powers only making it stronger. Helping it along. Then there were the memories. They didn't help. So many of them were flooding back was the hot water poured over his skin. He'd taken several showers since he had returned home. None of them made him feel clean after seeing the devastation at the orphanage. He should have been able to save them. He was fast. He was damn near invincible but he couldn't do a thing to help them. Everything had died. Most of the dead things were beyond recognition. It was worse then almost anything Kon had ever seen in his days of being a super hero. They had always gotten there in time to save the victim. Always.
He hadn't even heard them. But part of him suspected that maybe whatever Cade had done to destroy them was something that was instant. He hoped it was instant for their sake. They were innocent in everything going on. They were just foster kids. Kon took in a strained breath as he felt moisture build in his eyes and drip down his face. When Cade was himself again, there was going to be words. If he could find the words to say. He leaned against the wall infront of him. His hands stretched forward against the tile that line his shower. He closed his eyes.
Part of him truly wanted Cade to suffer for what he'd done. He wanted to pull Cade apart with his bare hands, but Clark had said he was wrong. Why? Why was it wrong to want to avenge someone who would never be able to avenge themselves? He didn't understand. Clark was usually right about things, Kon rarely questioned him but lately he was questioning everything. Saying things he didn't mean and didn't remember saying. Like he was losing part of himself. His hand gripped into a fist as the conflicting emotions tore through him. Things he hadn't felt before. He finally reached out to turn off the shower but instead accidentally crushed the knob in his hand. The water kept pouring.
"Great." He muttered as he stepped back and wiped his face off with his arm. Shards of metal clung to his hand until he reached out to grab the towel he'd set aside for afterward on the edge of the sink. Stepping out of the shower he dried off and wrapped said towel around his waist. To get to his room he had to cross the living room that ran parallel to the door, so he stepped out of the bathroom and raised an eyebrow at the redheaded Jedi staring inside. "Oh..um, hey. " Looking downward at the towel he quickly looked away from her for a second straight at the floor. "Just a sec." With a gust of blinding super speed he was in his room, changed, and then at the door. Several magazines fell off the counter in his wake.
"Come on in. "The shower still ran in the background.
