Cade Skywalker ([info]karkdestiny) wrote in [info]wariscoming,

Who: Cade and all his guests! And eventually an unfortunate soldier.
What: A not entirely healthy party followed by an even less healthy voyage to the dark side.
When: Starts at 8pm Lawrence-time. Everything comes crashing down a few hours later, around 1am.
Where: Cade’s luxurious, stolen-money funded big house.
Warnings: Given the nature of the party, I would say high PG-13 or even R.

As the sky finally lost its daily battle with the night and darkness crept over Lawrence, things were heating up in an affluent suburban neighborhood near the outskirts of the city. While most people were settling in to late night television, one house in the neighborhood was operating at a capacity that could make some clubs jealous. All the windows in the particularly large house were thrown open, leaving nothing to prevent the blaring, aggressive beats of the music within from pouring out. Anyone coming up the long drive could hear it, even from the end of the drive, and the bass was so heavy that by the time you got up to the house, you’d be able to feel it pounding in your bones. Though the rest of the guests had been told 8pm, it seems that some showed up early, as the house was already on its way to filling up as the faces that were actually familiar to this party’s host began wandering in.

Cade, for his part, was already clearly lost to the pounding beats. Or perhaps it was the cocaine he’d snorted with a few of the ravers he’d invited, or the three shots of Patron and four beers he’d already had. Not that these were things an eighteen year old was supposed to have, but when you could wave your hand and make people think whatever you wanted, fudging a number on an ID was hardly the most difficult trick in the book. At the moment he was dancing on the second floor foyer, but as the song changed from something from Eminem’s most recent album to the Aerosmith/Run DMC version of Walk This Way, he took what he considered an express elevator downstairs so he could be nearby when the important guests actually arrived. The express elevator, in this case, was simply a running start and a huge, Force-cushioned leap from the second floor foyer right down into the Great Room, where the front doors opened into. He’d abandoned his big billowy coat and Mandalorian chestplate in his bedroom earlier, and was simply wearing an unbuttoned black button-down shirt, a pair of leather pants in the same color, and his usual boots. There was already a light sheen of sweat on his forehead and a slight reddening in his cheeks, but whether that was from the dancing or the booze and coke was impossible to tell.

(OOC: Since the majority opinion seems to be thread it, here it is! Feel free to subthread away. I’ll be putting up a thread for Team CADEWTF a little later on tonight.)

Allana&Kon

Now that they were out of the crowd Allana could see that Kon was definitely out of his element. She noted the disapproving glances he was shooting off at everyone with anything stronger than a drink in their hands and raised her eyebrows in surprise. Then again, she mused as she took another sip of her drink I guess it makes sense. Clark’s supposed to be his mentor and the guy is probably in the dictionary next to ‘rules.’ I mean, he charges around stopping muggings and wears a cape because his mom made it for him. He is probably not so much big on the drugs. She couldn’t tell, however, if Kon was following along with Clark’s beliefs, nervous about being caught at the party, or merely feeling awkward in an unfamiliar social situation.

"Looks like you're used to this kind of thing?"

“Does it?” Allana asked, brightened and sat up a bit straighter before it occurred to her that, coming from someone obviously uncomfortable in this scene, that might not exactly be a compliment. “I mean,” she went on a little self-consciously as she swung her legs above the ground from her perch, “this is my cousin’s party so I do know someone here. Plus, when I first got here, I hitched a ride with Cade down to Vegas and hung out there for like a week. Then one of my best friends, you might remember her, Jennifer Check? She had a couple pretty crazy parties, not crazy like this, mostly drinking and, um—“ she cut off and blushed as she realized the embarrassing impossibility of saying ’and attempts at crazy orgies’ to Kon, “and, um, you know, other stuff. After a while it kind of stops fazing you, you know? And it can be fun, you know, just saying ‘hey, screw it’ to all your responsibilities for a little while. Won’t get to do that when I’m older, back home, too much scrutiny.”

She took another sip of her drink and let her gaze wander out over the porch and yard, and bit her lip. “Back home though? Definitely not, I was totally sheltered. I mean, everyone always said they weren’t going to coddle me, and I did hear a lot of stuff normal kids didn’t I guess, I went with my grandparents on peace-keeping missions and no one ever censored current events for me so I saw a lot of stuff. Drugs or parties though? No way. When I first got here I wasn’t even used to hanging out with people my own age. I mean, I couldn’t tell anyone my real name or make friends and actually be honest with them at home, much less get to see,” she waved her hand to indicate the scene around her, “any of this.” It was weird, when she’d first gotten here she’d wanted nothing more than to go home. She still missed her versions of grandparents and Jaina as well as Ben, Anji and even great uncle Luke and his lectures desperately, but going home meant losing the people here. It might even mean forgetting them. It meant going back to Hapes and never having the opportunity to be an irresponsible teenager again.

“What about you?” she asked as she shook off the semi-serious mood she’d somehow slipped into and smiled up at her friend. You are too easy to talk to sometimes. I have to watch that or I’ll end up embarrassing myself. “You seem kind of…not so much used to this?” The tone was, again, curious rather than judgmental. Somehow this didn’t seem like something to tease Kon about, easy as it would be to mock his sudden responsible side.

It was both really. Though this Clark in their current reality was probably a little less harsh then his, there were still times he worried about getting judged too harshly for making mistakes like wild booze filled parties and the like. Force of habit really. Where he was from, most people thought Batman was a scary mentor. But Superman was absolutely perfect in every single way, and Kon was most definitely not. He was still a teenager, he still made judgement errors that got him a disapproving look that he was giving to most of Cade's house guests. It was actually a pretty good replica of his Clark's displeased face. It was almost too bad that Clark wasn't there to see it. The way she corrected herself made Kon realize that his words could have sounded a little insulting, so he just grinned a little. " It's not a bad thing, since you seem to know how to handle yourself unlike most of these people.." He trailed off, and still sounded like he was scolding the party goers.

He shook his head a little and looked at her curiously. "Vegas huh? Been there once. But it wasn't so much fun as it was mission, evil bad guy, and possible end of reality." He continued to watch her and seemed a little lost on what she was trying to say, but shrugged. " I can see that. This place actually, ending up here didn't faze me as much as it has most people. This is the first Alternate Reality with a Biblical apocalypse, but not the weirdest I've seen. " He admitted with a tiny shrug and folded his arms as he leaned next to her. "Sounds nice." Kon sometimes wished he could forget about being Superboy for a while, but then he was constantly reminded of how the world needed Superman and Superboy and destiny didn't take no for an answer.

"Seems complicated. But at least you get to do it here. " He was always on the side of the glass being half full, another thing he could blame Clark for. Always tried to be positive like him and hope for the best of things. "Where I was living there weren't many parties like that..I mean there were typical high school parties that had a similar tone, but between being with the Teen Titans on the weekend, and being Superboy I guess I never really even had time to try it. " He paused and smirked fondly at a memory. "Living in Titans Tower was almost like a party. We were based in San Fransisco, it's a city that never sleeps. " It was clear he missed home. "There was always someone to hang out with, but you know minus the whole booze and drugs and plus some freaky meta super human powers."

"What's it like, having family around?' Kon never really had a real family of his own. He had the Kents for a while, but he was more or less adopted and never really felt at home there. "It was weird you know, I finally accepted Smallville as home and then ended up here. At least not everything sucks about it though." He looked up at her pointedly and offered a warm smile. "I like some parts of it."
