Who: Graverobber and Shilo, Amber later on =D
What: Shilo goes to find Graverobber to give him proof
Where: McDonalds then most likely the complex.
When: Night of the 21st
Rating: TBD
Status: In progress.

Shilo couldn't believe that Graverobber was there as well. She had been expecting to be alone in this foreign place, had been prepping herself for it, really. True, she had met Arriane, but still, she had been convinced that she'd be alone. Her dad was dead, her godmother and the one person who had shown her the ropes was no where to be seen. Yet merely a few days after her own arrival, Graverobber showed up, commenting on her post about bugs. Of course, so did Amber and Shilo couldn't help the disdain she felt. Amber had tried to ruin Mag's career before she was killed. Didn't care about anything but herself. But she couldn't blame her for her father's dead, or Mag's really. That had been Rotti's doing. But no matter, Shilo decided to ignore that and instead find Graverobber.

Finding one of the free newspaper stands that the city had, Shilo made her way towards the nearby McDonalds. Having only been in Lawrence for two days, Shilo hadn't gotten a chance to explore as much as she wanted, well, when she wasn't afraid to that is. But this gave her the chance to do just that, so after getting lost a few times, Shilo finally found a McDonalds and it was easy enough to pinpoint Graverobber from the more mundane type people of this city.

Shifting some, the seventeen year old made her way over to where Graverobber was and sat down, pushing the newspaper so that it was in front of him. She didn't know exactly how else to give him proof. Though she supposed she could take him to the park. It wasn't like there were any parks on Sanitarium Island.

Graverobber steadily followed Shilo with his eyes as she walked into the McDonald’s. This was funny, he thought. Not so long ago he had been showing her the ropes, revealing the dark underbelly of the world she’d been locked away from. Now it was her helping him, providing proof that they had indeed been taken from their homes and put in the middle of something he didn’t yet understand.

“Well, this is an interesting development.” He shook his head at the paper. Yes, this was indeed a world before his time. Undoubtably it meant that he would have to do some unpleasant adjustments. On the plus side, though, this meant that GeneCo didn’t exist. If GeneCo didn’t exist then he didn’t have to worry about Rotti’s cops chasing him down for his multiple offenses. What was it that people used to say? Something about clouds and silver linings...

“How long have you been here, kid?” He looked up from the newspaper. “Longer than me, I know. What I mean to ask is how much do you know about this place?”

"Interesting development is one word for it." Oh, Shilo was aware of the irony. She used to be the scared little girl in the corner, afraid to even step outside the sanctuary of her home. She had relied on Graverobber to show her the ropes, because she didn't know anything else. Yet here she was, showing him the way of this place. Well, not really. It was different. She was just providing proof. She didn't know much of what was going on, she had read the the information about this place though, it had proved helpful.

"A couple of days." Which meant she didn't know all that much, "But I've read up on what's going on. Apparently we were brought into the middle of the apocalypse by a magic seal. It drags people from different dimensions and times. There's a complex for displaced people like us to stay."

Might as well repay the favor of Graverobber helping her out. He looked just like she remembered. Of course, she had just met him. Everything that had happened had happened so fast. It was still hard to believe that she was officially an orphan. But she had a semi-friendly face with Graverobber there. And she had things to focus on that would help her avoid the death of Nathan and Mag.

Puzzled. Graverobber was absolutely puzzled. He worked with science. Practical methods and chemical recipes were his way of life. He could remember when religious folk were more prevalent. That all went by the wayside when people started reaching for Zydrate as their saviour instead of some icon kept away in a castle in a cloud. This all seemed dubious to him and he was reluctant to simply accept it and move on. Still, what other explanation was there?

“They got you paying rent?” He raised his eyebrows a bit. Nothing in life was free. Everyone wound up paying in one way or another.

“They tell me,” Graverobber nodded his head in the direction of the uniformed cashiers behind the cash registers. “My money isn’t good here.”

Shilo herself wasn't sure what to believe. But after the past few days, nothing made sense, everything had been a lie. So it wasn't surprising that she didn't know what to believe. She figured she'd believe what she saw, that seemed to be the best way about it. Perhaps she was already jaded for being free for only a few days, but after finding out her father had been drugging her? Nothing was sacred.

"No, it's free." But there was still some of that naivety. After all, she believed it when she was told that the Complex was free, "There's a welcome package of sorts for people who stay there to help get you adjusted to this place."

Hearing that Graverobber's money wasn't good here, Shilo blinked. She hadn't come with anything, so she didn't know what to think of money.

"It probably has something to do with the different dimension thing." It was a guess, at least. Logical.

He couldn’t help but think that there ought to be someone looking out for Shilo. She saw the world with fresh eyes probably because she’d been cooped up in her bedroom for all of her life. She was ripe for the picking, so to speak. Graverobber imagined that there were plenty of unsavory characters lurking about that would manipulate her. Being a watchful chaperone was not an appealing job, in his opinion, but perhaps he could manage a bit of guidance. That wasn’t so awful, was it? Not a babysitting gig, of course, but something more subtle.

“I’ll just have to earn some more, then.” His lips curled into that troublemaking smile he always showed before a really good score. He was certain that there were other things to market in this place, but until he found a new niche he would have to work on what he knew. Jumping to this new universe had left him only with what he carried on himself and in his satchel. That included a Zydrate gun and ten vials of the glowing substance. It should have been enough to get a decent amount of cash. If the apartment complex was completely rent-free he wouldn’t have to worry much about personal expenses.

Shilo had no idea what Graverobber was thinking, but if she did, she'd be indignant. She didn't need a watcher. She just.. well, she didn't know what she needed to be honest. But probably shoved in the middle of an apocalypse was not in that category. Thankfully though, she was not a mind reader, so she didn't have to feel indignant about Graverobber deciding to watch out for her. Even if he did it subtly. Well, subtle she could handle. But she still didn't need it.

Hearing the comment about earning money and seeing the smile, Shilo just rolled her eyes. She had learned from their brief interactions that Graverobber was an entrepreneur. So really, she should have seen this coming. And who was she to judge?

"Did you want to go to the complex?" She was pretty certain she could find her way back. It couldn't be that hard, right?

Graverobber nodded and stood up from his seat. Still he could feel eyes on him. He’d never felt out of place before. In the world that Shilo and he were from people came in all sorts of packages and usually looked quite outlandish. Everything in this place seemed a tone closer to beige.

“Lead the way and I will follow.” He gave her a smile, again noting how it was her showing him the way this time. It wasn’t as if he had a choice in the matter. He was planning on returning the favor sometime soon, anyway.

Returning the smile, Shilo gave a small nod and started to lead the two out of the McDonalds. She didn't pay much attention to the looks they were getting. She didn't pay attention to the age gap or anything. She just knew that Graverobber was really one of the only people she could trust here. He was from her world and he wasn't a vindictive bitch like Amber. Like hell would Shilo ever trust her. Not by a long shot. From what she knew of the ever changing heiress, Amber just looked out for herself. Then again, most everyone did, but Amber would sacrifice others to get what she wanted and not let them go about their way.

Once out of the restaurant, Shilo led the way down the street but things were looking the same. Which was bad. Because it meant that she was going to get them lost. No! Don't think that way! You'll be fine! At least that was a theory. After a few wrong turns, Shilo found herself in an alleyway with Graverobber.

"This doesn't look right... Don't worry, I'll get us back though." Famous last words. Or something. Starting to head out of the alley, Shilo yelped as someone suddenly came into her view, blocking her path.

"E..excuse us, we were just leaving."

"I don't think so."

"What?" Feeling a hand on her, Shilo tensed, unsure of what was going on.

"You look like you're fun. Why don't you ditch this loser and come to my place."

"N...No thank you."

"That wasn't a request."

Feeling the hand on her tighten, Shilo struggled, trying to kick her way free.

Truthfully, he’d expected something like this. Well, not the thugs but the getting lost bit. After all, Shilo was almost as new as he was and you can’t commit a detailed map of the city to mind unless you’ve got a really special kind of mind. Had he not been in such a strange place, he might have thought that the two of them getting lost was amusing. As it was, he found himself smirking a bit. Just when he was about to crack a sarcastic joke, someone else entered into the mix and he wasn’t exactly the friendly sort that would have been welcome.

“It would be wise of you to let her be.” Graverobber’s tone was calm and even, though he took a more aggressive stance as he stepped between the man and Shilo.

“You’d be wise to shut your hole and let the two of us have some fun.” The thug tried to grab Shilo again, but Graverobber shoved him, throwing his balance off a bit. It was his nature to leave the scene when there was a scuffle back home, but that was only because he cared more for his own safety than he did the people involved in the fight. The brutish man gave a swing, aiming to sock Graverobber in the jaw, but Graverobber was quick on his feet and stepped out of the way.

“This is your second and last warning.” Suddenly, Graverobber didn’t sound so calm. He was really preparing to come to blows with this man over the way he’d handled Shilo. Graverobber gave Shilo a glance to let her know that he had the situation under control.

Shilo was freaking out. After all, she had never had to deal with such things back home. Of course, being locked in her room tended to keep her out of such things. She was sheltered and didn't know how to deal with such things. So when the thug tried to grab her again, Shilo backed up, tripping over an abandoned wooden chair. But it seemed Graverobber had it under control.

Even so, she felt like she needed to help somehow. So thinking on her feet, Shilo grabbed the chair she had stumbled over and smashed it into the brutish thug's back. Too bad it didn't do any good. Eyes growing wide as he turned around, Shilo tried to back up before she was flung into the alley wall. Crying out in pain, Shilo slumped against the wall, her head pounding from where she had hit it. This was bad. This was really bad.

Why did it always come to Graverobber saving her? And more importantly, why did he willingly do so? Sure here it made sense, she was his guide of sorts, but back home.... But back home, she had nothing, so she didn't want to think about it.

Didn't I say the world was cruel, didn't I?

And in her mind, she heard her father's words ringing in her head. She should have listened. The world was dangerous, she was only safe in her room... but she didn't even have that anymore.

All it took to set Graverobber off was that thug tossing Shilo into a wall. He was usually so calm and collected. You needed to keep a clear head if you wanted to get by in his line of work. Lose your cool and bad stuff can happen. Graverobber was not going to let this guy hurt Shilo any more.

Graverobber could hold his own in a fight, but had never made a habit of getting into scuffles. He was a little rusty, but was picking up just fine. He swung, his knuckles connecting with the thug’s face with force that surprised both of them. With a few more blows the thug was on the ground, but at that point he would have had to beg to get his attacker to relent. Pissed off, Graverobber was practically growling as he delivered kick after kick to the thug’s gut and rib cage. He’d almost lost track of Shilo during all of it.

She couldn't breathe. Oh god, she couldn't breathe. She could feel the panic welling inside of her and she was convinced she could heard her father's voice telling her to take her medicine. But it wasn't her medicine. It was his. Because she didn't really have a blood condition. But that didn't change the fact that Shilo. Could. Not. Breathe. Gasping for breath, the teen curled up into herself, trying to escape the fighting.

It did no good though. She could hear the sounds of the fight, and over her arm, she could see it. Graverobber was winning. But he shouldn't have to be fighting. If she hadn't gotten them lost.... Standing on shaky legs, Shilo went to her savior of sorts and tugged on his arm, tears she didn't know she had staining her cheeks.

"It's okay, let's just get out of here..." She hurt. Her back, her head. She was cold. Getting them back to the Complex seemed like a good idea at the moment.
