Guns. Guns were wonderful things, and even on Earth-that-Was that was still true. Even if they were primitive pieces of metal that she felt almost insulted to be using there was still that feel of a weapon in her hands that made Saffron happy. She felt free here, content. But as it turned out not alone. In the compartment next to her was a woman from that Complex. Saffron didn't know her, she didn't know many people from round about the place but she had been thinking of trying to make friends around here. She took her own shots, aiming and firing with deadly accuracy. Companion training was a very useful thing as it happened.
Her round done Saffron pulled the ear mufflers down and stepped to the side to watch the woman finish hers. "You're good" she told her, and it was true, the woman knew what she was doing. Trained, Saffron could tell. "You're from the complex right. Not supposed to be here any more than me?" She didn't stand on ceremony, she never had and there was no point, what would it gain her. And for once there was no agenda, not yet anyway, she actually just wanted to be social.
"Hows about we walk back together when you're done. I'm Saffron." No last name, she had one of course, everyone in the verse did but not all of them wanted to use it and she was definitely one of those. Her name. Her actual name was consigned to her own mind and there it would stay. She hadn't been that girl in a long time, a long long time. Even before the companion training that girl had gone.
