Elphaba knew Anakin didn't mean anything bad by his question, he was merely curious. But even so, she still held so much sadness and regret for what had happened in Oz that her feelings did sink a bit as she recalled the memories. "I was branded a wicked witch for not turning a blind eye to an injustice. I could have been the Grand Vizier, but I found out the Wizard was behind animals being put in cages and losing the ability to speak. So instead of accepting his offer, I turned against him. I did my best to help animals, to keep them from the Wizard's clutches, and as such, I was called wicked and all of Oz turned against me." There was still a twinge of darkness deep inside her, but it hadn't come to her by choice. She'd fallen into it, given in when she'd lost everyone she'd ever loved. The truth of the matter was, she had gone a bit insane after Fiyero's death. But in the time that she'd been here, she had pulled herself out of that, and she was more stable now. Well, when Sins or the powers that be weren't messing with her anyway.
"Well a few months ago, all of us got transported about five years into the future. It was a bad place, really. Lucifer was winning and those of us that were still alive were living in refugee camps. We knew it was only a matter of time before Lucifer killed us all, but we still fought. There were also these zombie things that would attack us on top of the usual demons and whatever else Lucifer threw at us." That had been the first real introduction she'd had to the strange things that occurred in this world, but it had also been where she'd first met and grown close to Bonnie. It was the first time she'd felt like she was doing good, even though they were fighting a battle that was all ready lost. "Even though that was in the future, I don't believe it will actually come to pass." It wasn't just her power of precognition, which she currently didn't have, that told her that. There were people here now that hadn't been there when they were in the future. And likewise, there had been people there in the future that weren't here anymore. So clearly, it hadn't been a view of what was to come.
"That trip to the future was only one of the things I've encountered since being here. I don't know if you were here yet or not, but not that long ago, people were infected with what this world calls the Seven Deadly Sins. Pride, Greed, Lust, Gluttony, Wrath, Sloth and Envy. I got infected by Wrath, and basically a lot of us went crazy for a while before those that weren't affected figured out what was going on and put everything right again. Other than that, there's been some smaller things I've had to deal with. Such as my friend Bonnie got kidnapped a while back by an evil witch. This world is capable of many things, and there are many evils here. I don't know why people only tell you half the story, I think everyone should be fully aware of what this place is capable of. Otherwise how can you properly protect yourself from it?" Elphaba really didn't like that people seemed to keep the truth from Anakin. In fact, that was a belief she held in general. She hated lies, and far preferred the truth. That was why she'd turned against the Wizard, after all.
"No, I don't hide here. For once, I'm in a place where I don't have to fear people fearing me for my powers or hating me because of my skin color. And I've regained what I lost in my home." There was a soft smile that turned the corners of her mouth, all though it was still only a small smile.
