WHAT: Buffy invites Puck to stay with her. Better him be with her than out on the streets.

All things considered this wasn't one of Buffy's best plans. She could already hear Giles' voice in her head telling her how 'foolish,' it was. Here she was without her slayer powers and she was inviting a vampire who wasn't in control of his vampire powers to stay with her. So not smart. Still it was better than having him wander the streets, from the sounds of it he had already killed someone.

Buffy had gone down to the butcher shop and stocked up on blood - just in case. She also had a few bottles of Holy Water, only for a worst case scenario. Puck wasn't a normal vampire, so Buffy wasn't going to jump to the slaying just yet - not that she actually could. She was normal now, no super powers, no super strength - Puck could easily over power her and kick her ass. The thought was almost terrifying, Buffy had spent the last few years wanting to be nothing but normal - and now here she was, and she hated it. She hated the fact she couldn't be out fighting something. She had been trying to research with Sam, trying to find answers in the book - but she'd come up with nothing. And it frustrated her. What could she do if she wasn't slaying? She had already dropped out of school, what did she have? Would she go back to school and be...whoever it was she was.

Her apartment was empty for the most part, save for a fridge, dining room table and chairs, a couch, an old crackly TV and a bed in one of the bed rooms (maybe it was time she looked into getting a real job). Buffy planned on turning the other one into a training room - if she ever got her powers back. Still, somehow it felt a lot more like home than her other apartment had. There were less politics here, she could go in and out of her apartment and didn't have to worry about drama. She had had enough of it for awhile, even though Buffy was pretty sure it was only a matter of time before she got more. Wasn't that part of being Buffy? Slayer or not.

She sat at the kitchen table with her laptop, sipping a coke, snacking a bag from a bag of potato chips and waiting for Puck. Would he even come? Would she even be able to help him? She was good at the slaying vampires, but the helping them? Hopefully she could do that. It didn't seem like anyone else would, they were all to busy doing their own thing. Someone had to help Puck, and Buffy had had enough of researching and getting nowhere.

What would they even do when he got here? Buffy knew Puck was a bit of a player, anything like that would be out of the question. Buffy had had enough of boys for awhile, besides this was more like baby sitting anyways, she probably shouldn't use that term around Puck. Who knew how the vampire would take to the term being baby sat.

"God," Buffy muttered to herself, running a hand through her hair. "What am I doing?" She glanced at her laptop screen, she'd been researching to see if there was anything similar to this. But so far she'd come up with nothing, but then again it wasn't like she was that tech savvy.

Puck didn't know why he had agreed to let Buffy look after him. She was a Vampire Slayer, sure, but she didn't have her powers or anything right now. What if he got hungry around her? What if she accidentally cut herself or something and he ended up killing again? Buffy couldn't defend herself and Puck really didn't want to hurt anyone else. That was why he had decided to skip the complex when he first changed. After attacking Kurt, Puck didn't think that hanging around the apartments had been a good idea anymore. Beth was there. If there was anyone in the world that Puck never wanted to hurt as long as he could help it, it was his baby girl.

Avoiding the complex hadn't done him any good either, though. Puck had killed someone and, try as he might, even he couldn't pretend not to be phased by at all. He was a badass, sure, but he wasn't that bad. He couldn't risk going back to the complex now, not even for a second, and when he only had but so much cash on him and very little time left before the sun came dipping back up along the horizon again, Puck found he had very few options left. He had to go to Buffy. Maybe she couldn't defend herself, but she still knew vampires. If she could figure out a way to keep him acting from a crazy person, then maybe everything would be okay. Maybe no one would have to get hurt or die or watch him be a freak again, with the stupid blood drinking and goddamn. Puck really, really liked the blood drinking. He wasn't supposed to - drinking blood was supposed to be gross - but he did.

He didn't need to be thinking about blood right now, though. That was a bad plan, especially since he was currently standing outside of Buffy's place. Shaking his head, as if that would rid the thought from his mind entirely (it didn't), Puck raised a hand and knocked on Buffy's door awkwardly. Then he shuffled back a few paces, slid both his hands into his pockets, and tried not to look too pathetic. Easier said than done.

At the knock Buffy was instantly on her feet heading to the door. Supernatural abilities or not, she was still a slayer, which meant doing what she could to keep people safe from vampires. She didn't know Puck well, but the important thing was he still had a soul. So maybe if things got bad she could reason with him, she could mention Quinn and Beth, and hopefully the part inside him that was still Puck, that wasn't the vampire would listen.

It was worth a shot. And honestly, it was all she could think of doing right now. It was better than nothing. Better than sitting in her apartment and being bored. Buffy had wanted to be normal for as long as she could remember, but now she couldn't sit back and let everyone else go crazy. It wouldn't be right.

She opened the door and offered Puck a tiny smile as she did so. A very tiny voice in the back of Buffy's mind went 'oohhh hot,' but she tried to suppress it. It wouldn't do either of them any good if she started to make googly eyes at him. Besides she was over boys right now. And he was a vampire right now, and he had a kid and she so did not do the boyfriend with kid thing anymore either. Bad, Buffy, bad! She told herself. Thinking about boys at a time like this.

"Hey," she said. "Come in and make yourself at home," she stepped out of the way to allow Puck entrance. "Got a fridge full of butchers blood. I had no idea if you have preference I know some vampires do so I got a little bit of everything. Except chicken, for some reason chicken blood doesn't seem to be a thing," Buffy paused and shook her head slightly for continuing. "Got a ton of snack food too. You're a vampire like Caroline and Damon right? So you can eat food? Angel would be jealous."
