The question was surprising. Sam always figured that he did all right by her, but the only man in centuries? The only way he could see that as a halfway realistic notion was because Ruby had been in hell for years. It was kind of hard to get decent action when you were tied down and being tortured all day and all night long.
"Maybe I'm the only one who's ever tried," Sam said, words coming out against her mouth. Also a possibility. Ruby couldn't possibly have known any other man willing to love her for what she was. Sam was fairly certain that he was the only one in existence to ever truly fall for a demon. At least the only sane one.
Groping out blindly, mostly distracted by the kisses they were exchanging, Sam picked up the chocolate. He broke apart from her, raising the bag up to tear it apart with his teeth.
