"Yes, I was flattering. Definitely flattering." He never would be able to get how calling someone a bitch could possibly be complimentary, but this was Ruby and she did handle things a bit differently from other women. Sam found that he had a level of appreciation for that. Other women were more sensitive. They took things more seriously. Ruby could be joked with, she could play around (even if her jokes usually put him on the plate of humiliation), and she was usually able to hear things out from him that he knew he'd never be able to openly say to anyone else. Like she often claimed for him, Sam had long since decided that Ruby was special. The one demon who hadn't gone wrong; the one that he could love, while even knowing what she was and having actually felt it entirely.
Even when she was giving him a hard time. Sam's attention flashed to her mouth as she licked at it. He ended up closing his eyes and leaning back in his seat in response, knowing damn well that if she didn't stop with the teasing he was never going to make it to their destination.
Tease. Such. A. Tease.
"Should be up here somewhere," Sam pointed out, opening his eyes long enough to take in their current surroundings. "Park near the water." Then they would be alone. Save for the chances of any creatures of the deep disturbing them. The chances of that were incredibly unlikely, but his mind was still somewhat circulating around the drowning that took place on the other side of the city. Poor kid.
