It was always relieving to hear Ruby state how much she understood the importance of his relationship with Dean. He feared that one day one of the two would eventually demand that he make a decision - to choose between the two - and Sam didn't think he'd be physically or emotionally able. "Thank you," he expressed, shooting Ruby a grateful look. "I appreciate that."
It appeared to be an appealing idea. Skate around, give that worry-free skate a go. Sam let his shoulders rise up from that momentary slump they'd been in before and moved with Ruby out onto the ice again. He felt a lot more confident about himself than he did when hey had started skating earlier on. He was by no means a sudden professional, but Sam was braving the ice enough to go that tiny bit faster.
"Bet you twenty bucks you can't make it around this circle without falling," Sam declared, breaking free of that thoughtful streak that had been bringing him down in the first place. He'd said that he was going to make this last run worth it and he meant it.
