Who: Mike Chang & Kitty Pryde
When: December 24, 2010
Where: Lawrence, Kansas: Apartment Complex: 605 - Kitty's Room
What: Mike goes to see Kitty. DRAMAZ.
Ratings: PG-13

Mike had a lot of issues to work out. Evil twin, clone, whatever aside, Christmas was right around the corner and he really didn't want to spend it fighting with Kitty. She was special to him, even if he refused to label whatever they were and he didn't want to see her anymore hurt than she was, but he couldn't help the hurt and confusion he was feeling. Even if Elliot had his face, and he would maintain that it was his for all of eternity, finding Kitty kissing someone else had ignited a lot of anger.

Mike rarely got angry. Danny had knocked him out cold and he hadn't so much as shouted about it, which went to show you that Mike tolerated a lot. But seeing Kitty kiss someone else? Yeah, that wasn't going to go over too well with him.

But he knew that he was being too harsh on her. Even if he felt like she should have somehow magically known it was not him, she really had no way of knowing. So he was finally sucking it up and going over to talk things out. He wasn't going to say he was sorry, but he did want to make things...right between them.

Coming to a stop at her door, he stared at it hard before finally raising a hand to know.

Kitty felt horrible. She didn't want to kiss anyone other than Mike. Hell, she wanted to be his girlfriend. She obviously hadn't meant to do it at all. Elliot was identical to Mike. There were no differences between the two of them other than the fact that the two had vastly different styles. Elliot had glasses and was more than just a little bit nerdy. Mike was very cool and hip with the way he dressed. She couldn't believe now that she had managed to make the mistake. It left her feeling so bad. How could she do something stupid?

The two of them weren't dating. They'd never really talked about things between them. There'd never been a rule created for the both of them about not kissing anyone else, but it was somewhat of an unspoken thing. It went without being said for the most part, really. She would have been upset if he had kissed anyone else. She was upset with not only Mike but herself for what had happened.

Why hadn't Elliot stopped her when she'd been speaking?

At the moment Kitty was still moping. Sure, Booth's gift had cheered her up a little bit. It was adorable. In fact, she was wearing the black hat with the kitty ears right now. She was hoping that it would cheer her up more. She didn't want to be grouchy or upset on the holidays. A big part of her wanted to go talk to Mike. She wanted to apologize, to talk and to work things out. She just wanted to hug and make out. She didn't even want to demand anything anymore, she just wanted him to not be upset with her.

Hearing the knock at her door, Kitty lifted her eyebrow in surprise, getting up off of her bed. She'd been watching something or the other, she couldn't remember. Heading to the door, her socked feet making no sound at all, Kitty quickly opened the door and her eyes went wide. "Mike!" She couldn't help it, seeing him brought a smile to her face. She held herself back from hugging him. "Hi, what...what are you doing here?"

There were a lot of reasons that Mike was standing there in front of Kitty's apartment. The most important of which was the fact that Kitty was one of his best friends. Even if that label didn't fit quite right, she was important to him and he wasn't going to let a misunderstanding ruin their friendship. He wasn't going to let his evil clone mess everything up the day before Christmas.

He was also there to maybe figure out what he was doing with Kitty. Because even if she hadn't asked and he hadn't told, they probably would need to figure out what they were soon. There was already a lot of confusion about what they were doing and even thought they had agreed to play it by ear, Mike needed direction. Preferably, he wanted to be told what to do, but he would see how that went as he he hadn't decided whether or not he wanted to push that conversation quite yet. In the end, he decided he would see how apologizing went first.

Looking sheepish, he said, "I wanted to say that I was sorry for overreacting."

Kitty had expected Mike to be upset with her for a while. She was afraid that he was going to be upset with her for a while, actually. She didn't like fighting with people that she cared about...ever. She still didn't understand how Elliot could just...not say anything about who he was when she'd been talking to him. It was the holidays too. That made this even harder.

Mike didn't really have a right to be angry with her. Part of Kitty was firm on that. The two of them weren't dating. He never had tried to talk to her about that. She wanted more. Part of her just wanted to tell him flat out that she wanted to be in a real relationship with him. She didn't think that he'd appreciate that, though. It was unfortunate too. It might help her feel a bit better.

A light smile tugged at her mouth as Kitty nodded. "I'm sorry too. I thought he was you....." She stopped and stepped back, gesturing for him to come in. "The way you reacted..." Kitty shook her head, not sure what she wanted to say.

Mike didn't actually blame Elliot anymore for what had happened. Not really, even if he still refused to talk to the guy. He didn't even blame Kitty really, though there was no helping being irrationally angry. It was irrational for a reason, after all. Sure Mike tended toward flannels and jeans, but an occasional hat had been known to make it to his wardrobe when he was in a Fred Astaire sort of mood. He knew his classics and he paid a homage now and then in his dancing and style. So it had been easy for Kitty to mistake Elliot for him and, well, Kitty was a pretty woman. He didn't really blame Elliot for not stopping the kiss. He doubted Kitty had given him much warning because who took the time to say they were going to kiss you?

So he wasn't blaming anyone, never had really, and he finally had enough time to cool down.

"Yeah, I shouldn't have walked off like that," Mike said, rubbing the back of his head as he peered down at Kitty. "I shouldn't have said what I did either, to you or Elliot. I'm really sorry about that."

Kitty blamed herself for being dumb, she wished that she had stopped to say more before she'd kissed Elliot. Of course, looking back on something it was easy to say things like that. At the time she hadn't realized anything. She just figured that Mike was deviating a little it. He wasn't totally against doing that from time to them. The two of them were identical anyway, Kitty hadn't thought about anything period.

It was good to see Mike here now, though. She knew this was him for sure.

"You were upset, when you're upset you sometimes do things." She stated, watching him. "Mike, you can come in..." She stated, gesturing. She didn't want this to just be some kind of driveby apology, but maybe that was just her. Hearing him continue did help, though. "I forgive you. It was just a bad situation with high emotions."

She didn't want to fight with him. It was good to hear him apologizing.

In his life, Mike had a total of two girlfriends. The first was Cindy Shahi in the summer between his Freshmen and Sophomore year of high school. He had known her vaguely because she was a Cheerio and he was a jock, but they had never really spoken until she had nearly run him over at the beginning of that summer, when she had been learning how to drive. They had started hanging out soon after and then began dating even faster than that, but she had failed to mention that she was moving back to her native country at the end of the summer.

So once she had dumped him via text message, he had been very reluctant to date after that. But the next summer, he reconnected with an old friend, which brought him to girlfriend number two.

Tina.

He knew he loved her and he was almost certain she loved him back, a few Artie-related insecurities aside. But then it got confusing because after being sent to an alternate universe version of Kansas, he had once again become reluctant to get close to anyone again. His future self had proven that because he could remember the memories of struggling with his feelings for his not present girlfriend for years before he had finally let her go.

Which brought him to the woman he was standing in front of.

The future him and the future Kitty had been in a relationship for almost a year and he could remember those feelings as if they had been as real as the ones he had for Tina, albeit them being fuzzy because of the whole future thing. But the problem now had been how to reconcile those feelings with the ones still going strong for Tina, who by his count he had last been with two months ago, and with whatever he had going on with Kitty in the present. Time travel and two sets of memories blurred the lines and he had already felt torn enough without the added issues of Elliot and Kitty kissing. Sure, it was an accident and sure Mike knew he didn't blame anyone logically, but he was a seventeen year old boy and that meant he was irrational too, at times.

So it was hard to be here, standing in front of Kitty, trying to apologize while he had no idea what exactly he considered Kitty. A good friend, perhaps his best friend here in Kansas? Certainly. Did he care for her and get protective whenever he felt like she was being threatened? Hell yeah. But did he think of her as a girlfriend?

Well, that was obviously the question.

"Thanks," he said, nodding at her as he stepped into he apartment. He had been here quite a few times over the past few weeks, but it felt strange entering now, after what was maybe their first fight. "We should probably talk, right? I mean...about us."

Kitty didn't think about a lot of her past romantic endeavors. For one, a lot of the crushes she'd had in the past had been more than a little bit ridiculous, for another dwelling in the past really wasn't a smart thing to do. It only kept you from living in the moment now. Kitty didn't want to focus on that. Though, she'd be lying if she didn't want to focus on her and Mike. Sure they'd lived through what was supposedly their future, but things change and just by having been through that things had already probably been changed drastically. Kitty understood that romance was hard. Being in a relationship and dealing with those sort of feelings...not a cake walk.

It was hard to like someone, let alone fall harder.

the one thing about she and Mike from the future that had been great had been Kitty never had to worry about Tina. Now, though, things were different. He wasn't over her like he had been in the future. That threw a wrench into things. He was conflicted, but Kitty knew what she wanted. She cared about Mike deeply. The two of them just made sense to her. They got along well. She trusted him. They had things in common.

Why did it have to be so complicated?

It was so hard knowing the kind of future they'd had. Things had been great before he had died. She could remember so much from that future it was hard to just leave that behind. Obviously she and Mike were more than compatible. The two of them worked well together. It couldn't be that simple, though. Then, she had to go and kiss Elliot. She hadn't known it wasn't Mike, but still. If she hadn't rushed. Of course, the young woman was beating herself up over it.

She was glad Mike was here, period. Even if she didn't know what to say, how much to push.

Closing the door after him, Kitty turned toward him automatically, sighing. "I guess we should. We can't put it off forever."

Mike really wished things were as simple as things had been in the future. He had four years to get over Tina. Four years. He remembered them so well, so vividly. But he also remembered these past three months. It had been three months since he had been with Tina. And as short as their relationship had been, he had known her nearly his whole life and it was hard to get over that in just three months.

He wished this easier, that there was a magical off button for feelings, but there wasn't such a thing. If only it was that easy.

Still, his feelings for Tina didn't overshadow those that he had for Kitty. It was obvious in the way he waited until she closed the door to pull her close and hug her. "I'm sorry," he repeated into her hair. "I really missed you." Mike had never felt as lonely as he had, when being mad at everyone. And absence truly did make the heart grow fonder, evident when Mike nearly lifted Kitty off the ground with his hug. "I really, really missed you and hugging you and other stuff..." He trailed off with a smile.

Kitty was probably lucky, unlike Mike. She hadn't been in a relationship at the time she'd been taken. Sure, she had people that she cared about and that she wanted to be around, but they were friends. Leaving her friends behind was hard for Kitty. She missed them a lot. Still, she wasn't in the situation that Mike was in. She didn't have a relationship to worry about and be caught up on. She understood all of it, but it didn't stop her feelings from getting in the way.

Why couldn't emotions be more logical? It kind of sucked. Kitty didn't want to get hurt, she didn't want Mike to be hurt either. She just wanted the both of them to be content, honestly.

Kitty couldn't stop how she felt about him any more than Mike could stop how he felt about Tina, though. He made her feel good, there was just something there. She was surprised that he pulled her into a hug, but in a good way. She automatically hugged him back. "I know, Mike." She said, a small smile tugging at her lips. "I missed you too." She told him back. She had missed him. Not talking to him and him being angry with her had been hard. She didn't even mind that he was practically lifting her off the ground either. Giggling a little at his words, Kitty gave him a squeeze. "All of the above on my part too."

It filled him with a warmth that he hadn't realized he was missing this whole time, to be hugging Kitty like this. To be close to her, to smell her hair, to lift her in the air...it was intoxicating and he wanted it. He wanted to always be able to do this. She wasn't Tina, but she was Kitty and that had been enough for him in the future and he was sure that with a little bit more time, it would be okay for him in the present too.

Putting her down and pulling away slightly, he said, "I want to do this right. I don't want to mess this up. You know that even though she isn't here, I still love Tina...but if you stick through it, I think I can move on from her." He hadn't said it in so many words, but he wanted her to be his girlfriend. "I love you too, Kitty. I'm not going to deny it anymore."

MIke hadn't admitted it to himself, but part of the reason why he had been so angry was because their relationship had been left so undefined. But he was fixing that now, or at least he hoped he was. He was still, after all, only sixteen years old.

Kitty had really missed Mike. There was no question about that in her mind at all. She had known that she missed him. She'd been thinking a lot about him. Having him here, hugging her was pretty much the best right now. Things felt better already. Better than they were anyway. Mike was a great guy. Honestly, he made mistakes, he was human, and sometimes the two avoided things, but he was still wonderful. She couldn't call him her's, but he was amazing in a lot of ways. No one was perfect. She didn't expect him to be. Hell, she loved him despite his imperfections and that was the way to go. In the future his little quirks, habits, and imperfections had made him even more endearing.

Feeling her feet touch the ground, Kitty smiled. She'd never say it to anyone, but she liked being picked up sometimes. This was definitely one of those times. Looking up at him, Kitty blinked. "I know." A smile broke over her face. He thought that he could move on from Tina. That was....pretty much some of the best news he could have told her. that was the best thing he could say to her at the moment. "And I'm definitely sticking with you." Her smile was bright and she was pretty sure she understood exactly what he meant with that. She hoped, anyway. And then he said something even better. "Good because I love you too." She was smiling. Most of her was pretty positive that it wasn't difficult to tell she loved him.

Kitty was starting to feel much better than she had. This....was pretty much the best case scenario. She had hated that they had been so undefined. This felt better.

"Okay, so does this mean I can officially get irrationally jealous whenever that prick Nathan starts talking to you? Or when Puck hits on you?" Mike asked playfully, pushing her hair back from her face so he could see her clearly. He was grinning wide to show that he was only joking about what he was saying...even though what he was saying was how he really felt. Nathan was on his list for being a douche and Puck was on it for oinking at his girl.

His girl. Mike couldn't help how his smile seemed to get brighter at the thought of Kitty being his girlfriend. Would getting her a nametag that said, "Mike's Girlfriend" be overkill? Probably. But she brought out this silly side of him that he hadn't felt since Tina. At the thought of Tina, his smile seemed to dim a smidgen...until he said, "This means I can call you my girlfriend, right?"

The weights on his shoulders seemed to lift with every passing second. He was happy for the first time in a long time, without confusion or drama. And it was all because of Kitty. It felt good.

Kitty laughed, it was a genuine laugh that felt good too. Hearing him say that was more than a little cute and it did feel good. "Hmmm...I think that means that you can officially do all of the above." She told him, a wide smile on her face as he pushed her hair out of her face. She was glad that he was touching her, it was comforting having him right there. Even if he was joking about it, she wouldn't mind if he actually did it. It wasn't like she was interested in Nathan or Puck. She'd love it if they would both just steer clear. Didn't mean that it would somehow magically happen, though, unfortunately.

This was what Kitty had been hoping for. This was what she wanted. She liked the distinction, the definition, the title. He was her boyfriend, she was his girlfriend. It felt nice to have that distinction. Nodding, Kitty impulsively kissed his cheek. "You can definitely call me your girlfriend, boyfriend." She teased him a bit, feeling happier than she had in a little stint of time.

She felt lighter and much happier than she had. He wasn't angry with her. They had actually stopped putting things off. They had talked and it had ended in a way that Kitty had only hoped for.

For just a few minutes, Mike was happy. He had no idea what was to come, how difficult his life was about to get, but for now he was focused on just Kitty and how much he loved her. It was scary admitting it, but there was a weight lifted off his shoulders for now.

"Okay, so I think this calls for a celebration?" Mike suggested, wiggling his eyebrows. If he was Puck, he would have followed that up with a dirty comment. Instead, he picked up Kitty and threw her over his shoulder. "I say we go get some pizza and then go see TRON."

While they had done a little more than kiss before, he was suddenly shy again. It was different now that they were officially going out. It was all new and exciting all over again and he loved this feeling.
