Who: John Allerdyce & Kael'thas Sunstrider
When: December 21, 2010
Where: Lawrence, Kansas: 7-11
What: John finds himself alive and in Kansas.
Ratings: PG

The first thing he felt as he slowly became conscious was a burst of cold blasting across his face. It was a startling sensation and it made John wonder why hell was so cold. Another blast of cold had John sitting up as he forced his eyes open and the second thing he thought he wondered was why hell looked looked like the parking lot of a 7-11. He sat there on the parking lot for a few more moments, before a car honked at him, trying to park in the spot he was sitting in.

"Are you crazy? Move it, guy!" The driver shouted through the rolled down window.

John stared at him blankly, before slowly getting up and moving. He walked away, looking highly confused as he wandered into the 7-11.

I'm alive, he thought to himself as he stared a stand of newspapers. Why am I alive...and why am I in Kansas? He looked away from the newspapers and down his hands. The horrible leisons that had been covering them were no longer there. It didn't look like he was suffering from Legacy anymore, but he didn't know what to make of that. He felt numb inside, but the numbness was draining away as another feeling edged its way in.

Relief.

There was fire somewhere nearby and Johnny could feel it. He looked for it until he saw the cashier smoking. He didn't think as he called to it and watched in delight as the embers from the cigarette burst into flames. He ignored the screaming cashier and willed the flames toward himself. John cradled the fire in his hand as he smiled, staring into the flames. He felt no pain at using his powers and that felt good.

Sweetheart?

Kael'thas didn't have time to correct him as his mind jumped to what just happened. It wasn't possible for a mage to do something like steal another's fire. Raised eyebrows furrowed, and he couldn't help but feel a little inadequate. For some reason he was likening the stripping of his fire as the stripping of.. well, his clothing.

He didn't have time to call the other out for being--well, rude, and not just for the literal dampening of Kael's inner fire. The sirens were a signal, he was learning, that his presence wasn't wanted and this 'mutant' as he referred to himself seemed to catch onto this fact as well.

The wink caused Kael to wince as he followed to the room, mulling over the other's words. It didn't take a scholar to put two and two together--words like 'mutants' and actions like stealing fire meant he wasn't from here, though the general dislike for humans was appreciated. Kael was having a hard time accepting the fact that the humans in this world had done nothing wrong.

He took one look around and spotted an exit, opening the door and motioning for the man with the accent to go before him.

"I should probably warn you you're not where you think you are," he mentioned. Once they were in the alley he could take off the damned hood, he hated that thing. But until he found someway to hide his ears better, he was out of luck. "And something tells me you are not a fire mage."

When he had first heard Kael speak, John hadn't really been paying attention. It was probably why he hadn't realized he wasn't speaking to a rather tall woman as much as he was speaking to a rather androgynous looking man. Who wore what looked suspiciously like girl jeans. But hearing Kael now, while completely focused, made the difference. John almost halted to a stop right then and there while exiting the building, to raise both eyebrows and ask, "You're a man?" Well, shit. "Sorry mate, my bad." Fortunately for them, the pause was brief and they were well away from that particular 7-11 when the police decided to burst into the store to arrest what the cashier had described to them on the phone as 'Circus Freaks.'

John had enough brushes with the law to hold his questions in until they were a few blocks away and in an alley, which was as safe as he figured he was going to get with no place to go and with no idea what was going on. It was only then that he paused for longer than a few moments, before looking up at the blond he had mistaken for a woman. "So. What the fuck is going on?" The other man seemed to have more answers than he did and probably knew what was going on with his whole resurrection thing.

Coming back from the dead was disorientating business and he had no way of knowing that he hadn't come back from the dead to his own world. He was probably going to hurt someone when he found out what was going on and when he realized Kitty Pryde was walking around these parts, she was probably going to be the one he hurt.

John may have reformed, but he still hated that pint-sized bitch.
