Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:kitty pryde/shadowcat, mike chang

Who: Mike Chang & Kitty Pryde
When: November 23rd, 2010
Where: Lawrence, Kansas: Apartment Complex: 605 - Kitty's Room
What: Kitty acquires some alcohol and Mike comes over to get wasted.
Ratings: TBD!

He wasn't completely sure what was going on in his head, but at that moment, Mike wasn't thinking about Tina or the possible consequences of getting drunk with Kitty, who had been at one point in the future been his girlfriend. It was too bizarre to even begin to think about, so he pushed it all away in favour of getting so shitfaced that he could be at peace for a few hours. Leaving his room, he put his mind on the task and tried to keep his focus. For a second, that worked.

Not one to show up anywhere empty handed, he had a stack of paper cups, a deck of cards, and a ping pong ball. It might have just been the two of them drinking, but they could still have fun with it. Platonic fun, he reminded himself. He still loved Tina. Who wasn't there. Who he didn't have years of memory in his head about. Shaking thoughts of his girlfriend away, he got to Kitty's room within seconds of leaving his own, seeing as she was down the hallway from him. Knocking once, he waited patiently for her to open the door...or even pop her head out of the door. He had seen that a few times in the future and it never failed to surprise him each time.

Mike could do this. He could hang out with Kitty and be her friend and it wouldn't be weird at all.

Now only if he believed himself.

It felt probably a little too good to see that smile of his. Kitty knew that she shouldn't feel that little pitter patter in her chest, or feel the warmth in her stomach at seeing him smile, but it was there anyway. She didn't do anything stupid, and that was what counted. A smile was firmly in place as he stepped in and she shut the door behind him. "You're welcome." She couldn't help but look him over, ignoring the fact that he was checking out her room.

He looked like Mike. He was more interesting than anything that was in her room. He was better to look at than the simpleness of the room they were in. Kitty had always been a neat person, even in the future, she could remember that. She didn't need to be thinking of the future, though. It didn't help anything. Hearing his words, Kitty giggled a little and shook her head. "Har har, very funny." She teased him a little, taking the cups from him and gesturing for him to follow her to where she had the alcohol. They both probably needed some about now. "Probably because you know I'm organized." She said it without thinking, really. It was so strange....so easy to forget and have a little slip of the tongue like that...

She couldn't help but look back at him again, feeling his eyes on her, that smile of his was infectious, really. She was smiling back at him without a thought. He made her feel like he had in that future. She felt good, felt a bit of happiness just sort of poking her. She could hardly believe that he remembered and he still wanted to be around her, but she was thankful for small miracles.

She was happy to be around him, any time. It felt nice to see him. That was all that mattered.

"I remember...good thing I was around to mess things up for you a little," he said with a grin. There had been a good chance that Mike wouldn't have come to see her or even spoken to her over the journals if he hadn't remembered everything. He would have thought it would have made it worse for her, for him not to remember when she clearly did, so he would have stayed away for what he thought was the best. Except that wasn't what happened.

Mike remembered it all. He remembered being her friend first and then her dance partner. It had progressed quickly after that, like it was the natural progression of where they were headed, like it had just made sense to start seeing each other romantically. And it did make sense. They were compatible and they had such a good basis for their feelings...it had been easy to love Kitty Pryde. There was a lot of things to remember about the future and the memories of he had of her were all shrouded in good feelings. Unlike his death, he didn't mind remembering them. Until he remembered Tina, his absent girlfriend.

He flushed a little, looking away from her.

"So. Poker?" He asked, sitting down at the kitchen table and getting the cards out. He started to shuffle as he said, "Heads up?"

Kitty couldn't help but smile at his words, grinning. "You kept it from getting too boring, that's for sure. I always cleaned it up when you messed things up, though." She reminded him, more than a little amused. She wasn't sure if this was a good thing, if spending time with him would make it harder, but it was a risk that she was willing to take because Mike was a good person. He was great to be around. Kitty didn't like others making decisions for her, so it was probably good she didn't know what he would have done if he hadn't remembered things.

The fact that he did remember everything just made it harder not to want to talk about what happened in that version of the future. It made it difficult not to dwell at moments. It had been nice to know that in the future she had someone that she had cared about like Mike, even if he had died. His death had been hard, but it was better to have had him than to have been all alone. Kitty knew that this mike, he still remembered his girlfriend back home, though Kitty couldn't remember her name at the moment.

The small woman looked away the same moment he did, moving to get the alcohol out of the fridge and to pour some into two cups for the both of them.

"Poker sounds good." Kitty said, her back to him as she grabbed the two cups and moved to sit one in front of him at the kitchen table and the other across from him. "Heads up works for me." Kitty moved to sit, gracefully, automatically reaching for her cup and taking a sip.

"Here's a secret: I purposefully refused to put my clothes away just so you could clean to your inner neat freak's content," he kidded, accepting his cup and immediately taking a large gulp of it. His nerves were frazzled and his inner Mike kept asking him what he was doing there. The thing was, he was pretty sure his inner Tina knew exactly why he was here and was okay with it. But that somehow made it all worse.

He started to divide the cards up, but there was a nervous twitch in his hand that kept him from being as smooth as he normally was. Without warning, the cards went flying all over the table and floor. "Shit! Sorry," he said immediately as he got down on the floor and started to pick up the cards.

So smooth, Mike, he thought to himself as he was flushing red in the face and neck. So freaking smooth.

Kitty couldn't help but grin, laughing lightly at his words. "Oh, really? I guess I should thank you for that. You gave my neat freak habits an outlet." Kitty almost pointed out that it had to have been one of the many things that had made him a good boyfriend in the future, but managed to stop herself before that came out of her mouth. It was weird enough without her adding to it by saying something the wrong way. She was glad that he was here, though. It was nice to be around him, even if she knew that this Mike, the Mike that she was spending time with, was the one that was still very much concerned about the girlfriend he had left back home. Didn't stop Kitty from remembering everything and feeling things, though.

Kitty took another sip from her cup before putting it down, only to burst out into giggles as he managed to send the cards flying. "I thought we were playing poker, not 52 card pick up, Mike?" She teased as she quickly moved to help, getting all of the cards of of the table and then moving to get on the floor and help him.

Kitty had some cards in her left hand and was on her knees on the floor, helping him pick up cards, she couldn't help but look at Mike. He had a red blush to his face and neck. She found it cute. "Maybe I should shuffle?" She teased, bumping him lightly. They could be friends. It could be okay, right?

On the tip of his tongue, he had a remark about how exactly she could go about thanking him, a comment that future!Mike would have made. A future!Mike that had been involved with future!Kitty. Not him. Not present day!Mike. He bit his tongue and swallowed that remark before it could leave his mouth and make things even more complicated than it already was for them. Instead, he smiled at her and said, "Anything to keep you from resorting to putting things through the wall out of boredom." Winking and then regretting the gesture that could easily be taken as flirtatious, his eyes went slightly wide before he could tell himself to chill out and stop freaking about everything being taken the wrong way.

Thankfully, the cards gave him the distraction he needed to gain his cool again. Even though he was on his hands and knees to pick up the cards, he said with a small grin, "What can I say? Being spontaneous is what I do." He was still flushing, but it was slowly dying away so it wasn't so obvious. Sure, the damage was already done and she had already see him blush like a girl, but now he had plausible deniability. Or something.

Sometimes, Mike got confused easily. This wasn't news.

He was distracted again from his thoughts when she bumped his shoulder. Relaxing marginally, he bumped her back gently and said, "Maybe that's the best. You never know when I might decide to be spontaneous again."

It was difficult remembering what had happened in the future for the both of them. She almost felt as if she could anticipate some of his replies, but then she had to remind herself that he wasn't exactly the same Mike she remembered. She had to remind herself that the two of them weren't those people. They technically didn't know one another. The two of them were strangers, it just felt like they knew one another because of that...weirdness. She couldn't help but grin at him, though. It felt nice to be around him. "Oh, you and I both know that if I was putting things through the wall it wasn't because I was bored, it was to amuse you." She teased him, snorting a little bit. It was hard to forget things in this situation

Kitty was helping pick up the cards. She really couldn't help but wish that Mike weren't so cute at times. It'd be easier if he weren't able to somehow joke or make things charming. "Well, I'm definitely not playing 52 card pick up all night even if it is spontaneous." She told him, grinning. She couldn't help it. He made her smile.

She wished he didn't make her smile.

As he bumped her back, Kitty couldn't help but laugh. "I think that's a good idea. I don't get the urge to be spontaneous in the same way you do." Kitty finished with a wink, immediately beating herself up for it.
