Who: Jo Harvelle, Ruby Winchester, Martha Jones
Where: Camp Chitaqua
When: After Ruby finds Jo and Martha shows up
Rating: TBD
Status: Incomplete

She didn’t know when Ruby had found her, or brought her to a small, abandoned cabin. She didn’t even know when Ruby had pushed her down on the bed, forcing her to lie down. Jo moved slowly, but didn’t resist. She didn’t acknowledge the presence of her best friend, or the fact that her fiancée had died a short time ago. His blood still stained her hands and clothes, but she didn’t notice that for. The look on her face was one of a carefully  built wall of non-emotion, because she just couldn’t take that right now.

After Ruby made her lay down, Jo rolled onto her left side, facing the wall, staring not at it but through it. She didn’t see the wall, didn’t see anything. There was a roaring in her ears that blocked out everything, and kept her from even wanting to care if anyone around her spoke. Her thoughts were a tornado of random thoughts, thoughts bout him and the fact that he was gone and she would never see him again and now she was alone and she hurt so much and she didn’t think she could take anything more – not now. Why didn’t people understand that she didn’t want to be there if he wasn’t?

Even his name was too much to try and think of right now.

Ruby didn't know what to do. It was that simple. She didn't know how to help her friend through the loss of Chuck. She'd messaged Dean, practicly begging him to send someone to help her deal with this. She made sure Jo was physically okay, as okay as she could be she supposed. And she'd made sure Jo wasn't going anywhere like Dean had asked. Least she could do she supposed. In some ways it might be a good thing that Jo didn't have to grieve for too long. Or was that one of those things she shouldn't think. Things she'd forgotton. Probably was, she could expect that she would forget all sorts of things without Sam there to guide her. She missed him every day, much as he was walking around he wasn't always Sam. In many ways she had mourned her husband same as Jo was doing for Chuck now.

Maybe she could relate to Jo like that?

"I know how it feels, Might not think it, but I do. You feel like you're missing a part of yourself." she said "You wonder how things'd get any better, And I'm not going to lie to you about this, that little part of you will always feel empty. And it'll hurt. It'll pretty much hurt forever. But it gets easier. Not better just more managable" But maybe that was wrong. Maybe it was different for her. Her husband wasn't dead. Not exactly anyway, and she got to see him sometimes. Not that Jo knew that of course. It was best. It was best for everyone that she didn't know.

Jo didn't look at her, didn't even move. She just lay there where Ruby had put her, staring at the wall. What was she supposed to say beyond what she had. What was she meant to do to comfort someone that actually had become her friend over the years. It was awkward and confusing and human. Everything she wanted away from right now.

Getting into camp hadn't been the problem, nor had been sorting out where she would be staying. It had been getting herself in to see the body. She'd spent half an hour trying (Since Dean wasn't there at that moment) but she wanted to conduct this when there was less going on. That and the fact that Jo really needed her now.

The only problem with that was, when she'd shown up, Jo had seemingly disappeared. No one had seen her in the last ten minutes and she'd had to ask almost everyone before she got someone pointing at the cabin where they'd seen Ruby taking her. Martha had spent the last five years traveling between camps collecting intel and administering medical care. There had been births, deaths, injuries and when they got VERY lucky inoculations (but it had only happened once). And for all the time she'd spent moving, her home base was Jack's camp. Despite that she spent a good portion of her time in Chitaqua... mostly because with all the missions they ran there was an almost constant need for some sort medical treatment.

She wanted to check on Jo first. But Chuck's body had been the first thing she was directed to. But he would wait. He would be missed. With a cup of tea in hand she approached and knocked on the door of the cabin she had been directed to. "Jo? It's Martha." She was here now... whatever was to come she knew it would not be easy. But then nothing was anymore...

When the knock came on the door Ruby had an idea it would be Martha. She knew Dean had talked to the doctor and invited her to examine Jo. And weren't doctors supposed to have some kind of bedside manner. Ruby could only assume that meant she'd be better at the whole talking to Jo thing, helping her deal with her grief. Making sure the kid was okay, if there even was a kid. It was better that she was here, she could figure all this out and hopefully would know what to do for the best

She moved to quickly open the door, admitting Martha, she would have been checked on coming into the camp and she wasn't a demon. Ruby would have known instantly if she were. So that was enough for her to explain what she knew to the woman. "She's just been lying there. Shock I guess. Is it going to affect the kid, levels of stress like that? Anything I can do, or should I wait outside. Up to you?"

She didn't mind waiting outside if that was what was best. In the grand scheme of things it didn't matter much of course. They were all going to die. They were all going to suffer for Lucifer's arrogance and hatred of humanity. The poor kid probably wouldn't even get born. But until she had to walk away from Chitaqua she would be there for her friends.

While she could. She supposed while Lucifer let her.
