Faith was not in the best of moods. After waking up in a deserted street and getting on the network with her cell, she had started to make her way towards the location that Ruby had given her. She wasn’t completely stupid  - she had seen Ruby go off on Booth about giving Eliot a location, so she wondered why the demon was giving it to her. To put it mildly, she didn’t fully trust this situation. Her Slayer sense was seriously tingling.

While making her way, she came across small groups of zombies, and proceeded to take them out as she traveled. She’d seen enough zombie flicks to know that you weren’t supposed to mix blood with zombies, so she was careful not to let them get too close, or bleed on her skin. Surprisingly, it seemed like some of them were still human enough to end up with weapons, as she discovered by finding one zombie hacking up the remains of a woman. After Faith killed him, she took the cleaver for herself, and used it for her next few kills.

By the time she made it to the location a few hours later, she was in worse shape. Grateful she’d gone to bed in her normal street clothes and boots, her leather jacket and pants were smeared with blood and dirt, and her hair clung to her cheek and jacket thanks to sweat that had built up from exertion. She didn’t seem to notice the cold – which wasn’t so much of a Slayer thing, but because she’d grown up in Boston. November in Kansas was nothing compared to January in South Boston. The cleaver was held down at her side as she topped a hill and studied a gate that sat across the road. After glancing around, she slowly started to move closer, chocolate eyes scanning for any signs of someone she knew, or an ambush.

The Slayer was scared, waking up, struggling, blinking against the light. It wasn't a bad thing, being scared. Ruby would have been scared too. She remembered torture and she knew if Dean ever figured out her double life she'd wind up right back there. But that wasn't going to happen. No, Faith was the one that'd suffer today. It wasn't her fault either, she knew her and Dean as good guys, so black and white. It had been a long time since good and evil had really mattered in this place. You were either with them, or with Lucifer, or very very good at keeping them quiet. Faith struggled against the chains, ranting at them to let her go. Pity for her really.

"Sorry Faith, you're not going anywhere. Not till we're sure what you are and why you're back. And...well there's only one way to do that." She knew the Slayer would be brave too. But there was brave and there was naieve. Dean had learned torture from the best. And if Faith was going to complain and yell it would only spur Dean on. That's how it worked. "If you know what's good for you you'll break quickly. Cause no one is coming for you. No one knows you're here. No one can hear you scream this far out and even if they do...well they know better than to interrupt. You're not going to get out of here Faith." she told her, looking over the chains again. They were just as secure as she had believed them to be.

Ruby looked across to Dean knowing exactly the emotions flying through him, there'd be revulsion but excitement too, anticipation. Once someone had a taste for this there was no feeling better in the world. As much of an addiction as Sam had had for demon blood. And an addiction that would never leave him. "Don't look to me for help. You won't get it" she told the Slayer, removing the last little bit of hope, if she was right. From here on out it was up to Dean to call the shots. If he needed her to do anything he'd say. She'd watch. She'd help. She'd hope she never wound up were Faith was.

The girl’s confusion and demands had no effect. Demons could still question, could still demand freedom, could even beg and scream and choke on their own tongues, but that didn’t make them human, and that didn’t make him stop. And even if they were human, there was no telling what they knew, what they’d tell him to get him to stop hurting them... His pulse was racing by now, white noise in his ears that carried the feeling of power through him the way nothing else could, and it hadn’t even really started, yet, it was still just the anticipation of it, and his fingers curled around the knife a little tighter.

>"Don't look to me for help. You won't get it."

It was kind of funny how something simple like that, some statement that was simple and, by this point, kind of expected, could get to him - Ruby had every reason to be turning against him, but she was still here, doing as he asked.

He pressed the tip of the silver knife against Faith’s arm, pushing just hard enough to break the skin. There was no shifter-style reaction, no sign that she was anything evil. There was just a little blood leaking out, and his eyes followed it as it gathered, slid down the side of her arm, then flicked up to hers for a second, watching. There was something like mirth in his eyes - something darker than that, but a weird little twist of amusement that clearly said I’m enjoying this.

He turned away, to the little table, and set the knife down, picking up the salt, the holy water. He’d have asked Ruby to get it, but he didn’t want to risk her hurting herself on it, if something spilled. “So here’s how this is gonna go,” he said, as he turned back with the jug of water in one hand, canister of salt in the other, “I’m gonna ask you a few questions. You’re gonna tell me everything I want to know, or you're gonna hurt. We can be here as long as you want - I’ve got all night.”

Confusion gave way to understanding as she stared at Ruby and the demon’s words sank in. She struggled harder against the chains even as her gaze narrowed in anger. “Break? You expect me to break?” Faith gave a short, mirthless laugh. “Can’t break what’s already broken, Ruby.” She jerked against the chains again, then smirked. “It’s gonna take a lot more than this, ya know.” As Ruby stated that she wouldn’t help her, Faith’s smirk shook slightly, but she refused to back down that easy. “Always knew you were just a fuckin’ traitor. Were you ever my friend?” It stung, sharply, the betrayal. Ruby being her friend was the last mostly stable thing she had had after Pike had been sent back by the Seal, and to lose that too…she had never felt more alone than she did at this moment.

Her attention shifted to Dean, and she growled faintly when he approached with the knife. When all he did was draw a thin line of blood with the point, she rolled her eyes. “That doesn’t even hurt. I thought you were more like your brother. He knew how to make a girl scream. Aint that right, Ruby?” Her defense mechanism was the instinct to egg them on, get it over with. The faster they went, the faster she could work on getting out of there. When he picked up the salt and holy water, she shook her head. “What are ya, a fucking idiot? Can’t your precious demon pet there tell ya that I’m not a demon? That shit won’t work on me.”

“I’m gonna ask you a few questions. You’re gonna tell me everything I want to know, or you're gonna hurt. We can be here as long as you want - I’ve got all night.” Faith smirked at him again, this time to hide the growing trepidation deep inside – and, yes, fear was mixed in as well. “Whadya wanna know? I can tell ya exactly how I’m going to rip you apart once I’m out of these chains. Actually, ya know, that’ll take longer than a night.” The smirk grew slowly. “Hit me with your best shot, Deano.”

Faith was pushing her, way more that Ruby was willing to take. There were so many reasons she was out of line, and sure, she was the one chained down and being tortured by possibly the human most skilled at the art in all of the world, but she wasn't going to lie to Faith. "Yeah I was your friend. I cared about you a lot once upon a time but then my life got torn apart and caring got harder and harder, what can I say. And you died...how do I know you're even Faith? You could just be some...thing. Some new thing Lucifer sent to mess with us cause he hasn't done enough to this family by taking a husband, brother and son from the people that need him. Yeah, I'm betraying you, if you want to see it that way. But life is hard now Faith, its not all about partying and fighting for the thrill of it. Its hell on earth, and you're about to experiance a very literal version of that."

She watched Dean cut into her and Faith's reaction. "...You think thats the worst you'll face. You obviously have never done this. You start with the heavy stuff you loose a lot. You build, little bit by little bit. Why bring out the intense pain right away, what'll that do." She had a point though, she wasn't a demon. But it was all part of the routine and she was pretty sure there were other things out there that hated holy water, not even she knew all the bad in the world. And then Faith pushed her just a little too far by mentioning Sam, mentioning what had happened way back when. That was ridiculous. "Sam probably isn't a name you should mention if you want this to go as smoothly as possible Faith. Cause it'll only make us take our time with you. Don't assume you know us anymore. You don't."

She stepped in closer wondering how Dean had taken the mention of his brother. "It's probably best she shuts up now, bar the screaming obviously."
