It was only her ramble that convinced Clark that she was worth looking into. There were few people in the world who could pull off that type of rant while hanging precariously off a ladder above a pit of raging Croats and Lois Lane was indeed one of them. That didn't mean that he believed her, it just meant that Clark was convinced enough to refrain from letting her go right away. He would drag her back to his place. Load her up with rock salt, holy water, silver - the works. If she failed to pass his tests, he would show her a death more horrid than even the Croats burning below them were experiencing now. Brows knitting together and melting into an unpleasant frown, Clark tightened his hold on her wrist once more and dragged Lois up from the ladder and onto the roof effortlessly.
The Clark that Lois Lane knew would have been concerned. Apologetic, even. The tears in her eyes hadn't gone unnoticed, yet this Clark didn't react to them. Why would he? He didn't even know if this was Lois yet. And even if it was Lois, who was to say he had a shred of decent emotion left to spare her, anyway?
"You're lucky you pull off a convincing Lois," Clark told her, not quite letting go of her wrist yet, even if she was now standing on the roof with him. Away from the zombies, certainly, but not safe. She wasn't safe with Clark. No one was. "I'd ask where you learned how to pull her off, but there's plenty of media around. Probably harder to get your hands on than it used to be, but it still exists." Clark glared down at the ladder. The Croats were backing off. They understood now; the fresh meat, whether they liked it or not, was his.
What is wrong with you? Clark didn't answer. Instead, he grabbed Lois by the waist, hauled her off her feet, and moved for his building. It was a quick gesture - Lois probably didn't even realize that she had been picked up until she was standing on her feet again in an entirely different location. Clark already had his back turned to her, attention on the table on the opposite side of the room. There were a few various items set there, the three he needed to test Lois among them. "Everyone here knows that Lois Lane should be dead. Wanna tell me why you're supposedly not?"
