Parker thought of a saying she’d heard once. It was something about lies of omission still being lies, but she’d never lived by it or even believed it so she didn’t think it worth mentioning. She wasn’t the ‘do as I say, not as I do’ kind of person one sees so often in the world.
“The woman who showed me to the apartments? Bela? I think she might be a thief.” Parker felt pretty certain of her evaluation. “And maybe a friend.” She added in a slightly lower voice. In the real world, at least before she met Nate and the gang, she’d never felt a need to make friends. Most of her work as a thief was done solo and it had worked out for her just fine. Suddenly, though, being dumped in a world that was ending made her feel like she needed someone on her side.
She simply shrugged at Eliot’s comment regarding his cooking. “I’m not saying you fix bad stuff. I’m just saying...”
