They were definitely surrounded. Maybe (okay, definitely) darting in the room like that hadn't been the best of plans, but Sam wasn't willing to let the demons get the drop on them first. He downright refused. Though now that he thought about it (which was something he should have done from the beginning), them getting the drop on five demons wasn't really all that much of an effective tactic. Whether or not they came rushing out the door or if Sam and Dean came rushing at them first didn't matter. They were outnumbered. Plain and simple. Fortunately for the both of them, this certainly wasn't the first time that either Sam or Dean had been outnumbered before. And in spite of his impatient, rookie move, this definitely wasn't the first time that Sam had ever faced a couple demons before either. He glared coldly as Dean ran his mouth at them, taking the time that his brother was buying them to survey their surroundings a little more clearly. There were two larger demons in the back (one that was almost as tall as he was); three female, two male. One was grinning like he actually thought that the entire situation was incredibly amusing, the female closest to Dean looked like she might well have been in charge of the entire situation (judging from her calm and collected demeanor), while the rest of their group came off as flat out annoyed. They didn't seem to much like that the Winchesters had dropped themselves right onto their doorstep. Sam suppressed a roll of his eyes.
"Where's Lilith?" Sam said flatly, ignoring the witty small talk and going straight for the goal instead. He looked at the female demon standing next to Dean - the calm one - and spoke again. "I know she sent you. Where is she? Who are you reporting to?" Her calm expression faded. In it's place, a crooked smile appeared. The demons that surrounded them began to move in closer, looking very much like they intended on taking both Winchesters on.
Sam definitely had not expected for them to go about this the easy way. Cursing under his breath, he lifted his shotgun and took aim for the closest demon. Rock salt exploded from the barrel of his gun just as one of the larger two lurched forward in an obvious attempt to take him down. The rock salt would sting like a bitch, but the human inside the body would be safe enough...so long as Sam actually got around to exorcising the demon wearing them.
