Who: Kara & Open
What: Schoolwork, coffee
When: Early evening, around 6pm
Where: Starbucks
Rating: TBD
Status: Incomplete

After Christmas, Kara had enrolled in classes at Kansas State University, and then took up a part time job at a sporting goods store. Some of the way she got her hands on money wasn't totally legal, but there was some legitimate school loans that was allowing the Kryptonian to obtain a legal University Degree, and it gave her a chance to listen to human professors. Though with a lot of her classes, she spent a lot of time correcting professors in her head. They still had so much to learn, and she only knew so much. The true genius' of Krypton were long gone.

She'd gotten off work at about 4pm that Saturday, and then had taken her school work and gone to the nearest Starbucks, setting up camp with a coffee and muffin. Classes had just started, the work wasn't hard, but she still had to take a little time to get it done. Placing her laptop infront of her, and positioning herself to her hands were hidden, Kara glanced up to look at the coffee shop, before her fingers began to fly in an unnatural speed across the keyboard, typing up the answers to the questions infront of her.

Kara had no idea how classes were going to go, but at least it gave her something to do, a chance to get a real job. Barista and sports stores were not her future. Her major was Environmental Science, and from what she understood, there was big money to be found in that section in the right places of the world. With her previous life on Krypton, maybe she could actually bring something good to help with this world, and make a life for herself. Even if she eventually chose the superhero gig like her counterparts, there was no money in saving people.

This was not happening. Freya grabbed at her hair, facing the rattling glass and telling it strongly to stop, just stop. She wasn't supposed to draw attention. She didn't want the attention and people were going to notice her panic writ plainly on her face. If it shattered, she'd get in trouble and they'd lock her up again. They'd keep her locked up but not tightly enough and night would come and no one would know where she was and she'd--

"Please, stop," she whispered, trying to think up a spell, any spell that would cancel out the unintended magic, but it had been so long since she'd needed to stop something from causing a distraction while she fled that there wasn't one coming to mind.

And the rattling, it wasn't getting worse, but it wasn't getting better and it was glass. Glass broke so easily.

It didn't take her to long to figure out where the magic was coming from. As she looked from patron to patron, the girl with the guilty face was clearly the person behind it. It also seemed like she didn't want it to be happening at all. People were going to notice, in fact she was sure a few of them already had.

Slipping out from her seat, she moved forward toward the counter. Kara wasn't remotely worried about anyone stealing her stuff, they'd never get far from her if they did, and she'd make them severely regret it. Her stuff was safe, she'd get back to it in a second.

Kara moved to the front of the shop and was soon standing beside the girl, looking down at the glass. "You have to make this stop." she said softly, "Before someone else notices." Because she already had noticed. Her abilities were half to thank for that, but people were going to pick up on it. She was fairly sure the girl behind the counter was already gaping. They'd ask questions soon, and that wasn't something anyone wanted to deal with. She vaguely recognized the girl from the pictures online. Kara had never spoken to her, but was fairly sure they were both in the apartment building. Considering the size of it, she really didn't know everyone there.

Freya would have screamed, except her voice was stuck in a strangled whisper, she had no idea if the other girl could even hear her when she said, "I'm not sure how."

She rolled her lower lip between her teeth and jumped to her toes and fell back in a sort of comforting rock. People noticed. They would notice. She wasn't doing anyone any good by denying it. Coming here was a bad idea. She wasn't ready for this type of confrontation. If it could be called one, Freya didn't know. No one seemed to be actively panicking like she was, but people were odd. It was only a matter of time.

"It should have stopped on it's own."

She reached out to touch the quivering glass, wishing it would stop like she wanted it to. Wishing it wasn't being so uncooperative. Wishing her magic was more reliable and worked when she needed it to.

Looking over to the girl, Kara frowned and then reached forward with he own hand, trying to still the glass with her strength. Except it was magic, and she knew that magic had something on her. She couldn't always beat it. "If you can't stop it then you had better turn around and get out of here." Because it was way too late to pretend that she didn't know what was going on. People were already starting to look. It didn't take long for people to catch on.

"It's your magic, try again." she said gently, ignoring the fact that the girl seemed startled. Why she would have come in here if she knew she was going to start something like this was beyond Kara. Maybe she didn't know, but there wasn't much Kara could do in this situation except get her to focus.

"Ignore the people. Focus." people were going to gawk at anything, but worrying about other things instead of really concentrating was bound to have some sort of impact on how she was going to get her magic to work, right? Well, it was just a theory, but it made sense in Kara's mind.
