Flaming skeletons would have been DPS monsters in WoW. Danny was pretty sure of that, after day two of playing WoW mostly nonstop. Apparently he didn’t need to worry about sleeping when he was on fire. At first, WoW was just what he was doing to kill time. He’d rolled a new ‘toon on a server nobody from the guild frequented – that he knew of, at any rate – and went to work leveling this ‘toon. He made all the appropriate excuses for missing work, though he had of course been relegated to texts instead of actual phone calls. The way his voice sounded right now, people would have yelled at him for playing with a voice changer.

It was only a timewaster at first. Jessica being over was a little awkward, considering he’d lied to Sookie and had some very interesting dreams about Jessica. He remembered a rose, and dinner, and beers and some making out, and all those things felt very pleasant in the dreams. In fact, they felt kind of pleasant even when he thought about them while awake. This was part of the two-fold reason he’d kept Sookie in the dark about his dreams; the other reason was that something deep down told him she could get hurt if she knew. He hadn’t understood it, but believed it with an almost religious certainty. The fact that he was dreaming about another woman, one he knew at least in passing from work, was just a coincidence. Or that’s what he told himself, anyway.

Unfortunately, things had gone from awkward to, well, more awkward. For some reason, the longer Jessica was over, the more Danny wanted to do…things. With her. Things that no guy who was currently dating someone else should want to do. At first, it was just a niggling little feeling, like the kind of thing most guys felt when they walked by an attractive girl on the street. Over time, the feelings had increased to a point where Danny had to maintain his focus on the computer fairly fervently because if he didn’t, he was fairly sure she’d have been able to tell he was getting tense, and that would have just made things more awkward. By the time she went home to get some of her things – and Danny was curious why that didn’t feel at all awkward or out of place – he was doing his best to keep his empty eye sockets, which could still somehow see perfectly fine, glued to the computer monitor and the cartoon-themed renderings of fantasy landscapes therein.

It looked like today would be ending the same way, but then, suddenly, with a flash of light and a vague fwoom sound, the burning skeleton dressed in spiked biker’s clothes was gone. Danny was back, in the plaid pajama pants and sleeveless t-shirt he’d been wearing when the transformation occurred. They didn’t have a mark on them. Not a single char or burn mark, nothing out of place. His eyes widened and he leapt up from the computer, immediately patting himself down. Normally, he’d have checked to see if all of his kibbles and bits were still there – this was important information even for the nicest and least pervy of guys – but the effect Jessica was having on him made it abundantly clear that things were, in fact, still there and functioning as normal.

He turned towards Jessica, a very large part of his mind noting how hot she looked, and let out a joyful whoop sound. “HolycrapI’mback!” Apparently, his ability to enunciate hadn’t quite made the transition yet. Almost immediately, he reached up to check his face. Yes, the fleshy bits were there, and an experimental poke at a closed eye proved that his brother’s dead-on salt-throwing technique hadn’t done any damage. “I don’t know how I did that,” he was still talking quickly, but at least now there were discernable moments of separation between the words, “but I’m back!”

Danny felt pretty comfortable with Jessica, beyond the obvious awkwardness of neither of them being together...even though in those dreams, it kind of felt like they were. And the behavior was certainly together-ish. Danny wasn't naive enough to think that making out always meant together, but the whole dinner-and-a-rose thing kind of implied it heavily. And with this whole transformation thing proving that there was something to the burning skeleton dreams, he was starting to believe that maybe the other dreams weren't just bunk, either.

He really didn't have a problem with that. Except that he did. He had a girlfriend! The fact that he had to forcibly remind himself of this was probably not a good sign. "Yeah! Yeah, you did. And now if you'll excuse me," he did the best he could to make it sound like a joke, "I need a glass of cold water." He immediately went around the corner, glad for the little wall separating the main room from the kitchen, and into the kitchen, yanking on the faucet and wrenching it over to the coldest setting. Once it was good and freezing, he got a cup, set it to the side of the sink, and then splashed himself in the face with a good handful of freezing water.

All he got for his trouble was cold face. Muttering under his breath, he filled his glass, downed it, and then reached into his 'fridge and retrieved two beers that, should any cops show up, he would swear he was holding for his of-age brother and in no way drinking himself. He returned to the den area, popping the caps on both beers as he neared the coffee table, and offered one to Jessica. "I think I owe you a beer for all the interference you've been running," he told her, trying not to think about the dream that started with beer and ended with some very pleasant making out. Too bad he wasn't all that successful.

Jessica wasn't effected by her own pheromones, it would be weird if she was. In fact, she wasn't even aware that she was putting off an weird ones in the first place. But that wasn't to say that she wasn't aware of the fact that he was dripping water in a... rather nice-to-look-at way. He's ninteen, Jessica, she tried reminding herself. But there he was, handing her a beer like in those dreams, so the reminding herself didn't work. So maybe she was attracted to him. And maybe she did have a boyfriend that tended to get jealous at times. But that didn't have to add up to anything. Even if Danny was the one to show up in her dreams while Cal, she never saw him. She hadn't even been talking to him much over the last week or so.

"Thanks," she said simply, taking the beer from him after a very brief pause. "So tell me," she started, closing the laptop and setting it aside with one hand while taking a sip of the beer with the other. There was no reason to show him that picture just yet, she should let him be happy about looking all human again first. "Those dreams of yours I show up in, has there been beer in an of them?" It would sound like a stupid question to him if beer wasn't in them, but if he had dreams like she had, then it wouldn't sound so out of the question.

Danny got about halfway seated before she asked about beer-related dreams. His footing fumbled for a second, but it was a dead giveaway and he knew it. So when he did sit down on the couch, maybe not quite as far away as was advisable given the nearly magnetic attraction he was feeling, he didn't bother denying it. "Uh, yeah. Yeah, there was." He swallowed hard, finding it very hard to focus while he was this close to her. "I'm guessing there was for you, too." His brain might have been fuzzy, but he could still recognize that she wouldn't have asked such a seemingly odd question out of the blue.

He tried once again to remind himself of Sookie, but it didn't really seem to be doing anything. While he wasn't of the mindset that dating someone meant he couldn't look, it definitely meant don't touch. And yet he really wanted to do some touching right now. He should have felt like an ass for that, but for some reason, he really didn't.

The fingers of his free hand were idly playing with the hem of his shirt. He didn't even realize he was doing it. He glanced up at her, but quickly returned his gaze back to the bottle of beer dangling from his fingers when he realized his eyes kept drifting toward her lips. God, I'm usually never this bad around a girl. It has to be those dreams...

Oh yes. Jessica noticed that alright. There wasn't really any way for her to not notice it. She also noticed that he was sitting rather close to him, which she didn't seem to mind in the slightest. That was something that she normally would have paid no attention to whatsoever, but she couldn't help it. For some reason, Jessica sorta felt... drawn to him. Especially when he was back to looking like himself. Stupid dreams.

"Sounds like the same dream. It's weird having the same dream as someone you hardly know." Even if she felt like she knew him quite well. She may feel like she knew him, but she had only really started talking to him the day he turned into a skeleton, with the exception of a few polite hellos in the cafeteria when she was working. "There was one with a rose, too," she added, eyes moving back to the beer she held in her hands before taking another sip from it. After that she set the beer aside and used the hairtie she kept on her wrist to pull her hair up in a quick pony-tail, partly so she'd have a reason to not look at him for another moment after mentioning the rose.

Danny squeezed his eyes shut, trying hard to envision his actual girlfriend. Weird thing was, for just a second, the image that his mind called up wasn't Sookie's at all. It was Jessica. Which was weird, even if it had felt normal for the brief second it was there before being replaced by Sookie. "A rose. Yeah. That would be another one." There were also weirder dreams, involving some grizzled guy with a cliche design on his chest shooting at him.

He opened his eyes and took his first gulp of his beer. It was a long one, mostly because he wanted to put off asking what he was about to ask for as long as possible. Eventually he had to come up for air, though. He glanced at the bottle, debating taking another pull, but then focused on her. "So. Am I the only one that feels like we know each other a lot better than we seem to?" It was a struggle, but he kept his eyes on hers. He figured it was probably because her lips weren't actually moving right now. Less distracting that way.

And they were two for two when it came to dreams discussed. At least Jessica wasn't about to mention how the rose had made her feel in the dream, how it had made her feel just a little special and all that. There was really no need to bring up something like that, especially when she had been mentioning things that could seem like nothing. There was beer in one and a rose in another. Too bad they weren't nothing. They weren't her strangest dreams, not by a long shot, but they were... she hated to call them her happiest, it sounded horribly cheesy, but it was true. Most of her dreams were closer to nightmares.

When Jessica noticed Danny turning to look at her out of the corner of her eye, she did the same, again noticing how close he was sitting. And then he had to go and ask something like that. "No, you're not the only one." She said, her voice a bit quieter than usual. She wasn't used to doing stuff like this, discussing her dreams and feelings and everything with people that weren't Morgana or occasionally Clark. And not just these sorts of dreams, but any of them. Jessica tended to be a really private person, and yet here she was, she'd been talking to Danny about a lot of things that she wouldn't talk to most people about over the past couple of days. "For some reason I feel like we're supposed to be... I don't know. Close, I guess."
